Smile ATTN: 06 owners with crappy MPG

Just got my truck back from dealership today complaining about hard starting when engine is warm, horrible mileage (hadn't seen over 13mpg since new-3500miles), and cutting out at highway speeds (70-75mph). Dropped truck off at 8 am got back at 11 am. When i dropped truck off it read 12.8 mpg. Picked truck up, they reflashed pcm (tsb 18-003-06), reset MPG reading in parking lot of dealership. Carried on about my business the rest of the day driving in town running errands and truck now reads 15.2 mpg, very happy now. THis is more like what i was expecting the truck to do, can't wait to see what i am getting on the highway now. I would strongly reccommend everyone with 06's to have their's reflashed as you can see how it affected mine immedaitely!!! I will keep posted on mpg.

report back after first tank and HAND calculated milage...... that overhead is a nice outside temp, direction, trip meter but after that, useless.

I have hand calculated the last 4 or 5 tanks and the overhead when reset when filled up is very accurate on mine. Its within +/- .2 or so. I just got 14 average pulling a 22' heavy car hauler with a VW beetle on it. Speeds between 45-75 300+ miles. I was surprised. I usually get that around town empty just with a heavy foot.

Mine is doing fine (06 Mega) just filled up and did a hand check. 17.8 mpg. Keep it under 70 and you will find what you are looking for.

My overhead mpg has always been within .5mpg of actual hand calculated, unless the reprogram messed it up somehow i will continue to beleive it is pretty accurate, however i will hand check after my first tank to make sure.

The later build 06's seem to be getting better mileage, as i have a buddy who just about an 06 with auto (1,500 miles) and he is getting 15 around town as well. I think the later builds probably already had the updated computer programming??
