If you open the ash tray, hold the face open with one finger, using your other hand, lift the inside up forward and it comes out very easy. The trick is lift forward!

I thought about putting mine in the ash tray, but decided after looking at it, it would fit better and be easier to access mounted next to my lower gauge on my piller mount. I like it there easy to reach and also kinda stealthy if some one was looking in the cab from the outside.

I took my cig lighter out and installed my "****" there . I'm still trying to fabricate a way to make the "****" look like the cig lighter ...this is one of those projects that I will eventually get to.

04ram2500, I mounted mine on the flat space in the dash that is just to the left of the steering column, and in front of the blinker stick. I mounted mine a little to the right in that blank space, to allow space for one more switch down the road. It's very clean and flush mounted. I like my ashtray for keeping change.

Maybe I am missing a piece, cause on mine when I mount it you can see the little brass nut. Should there be a plastic cover or something. A picture sure would help me.

thanks

What I had to do was (in small increments) cut down the shaft that the switch mounts to so it didn't stick way out. This was easy with a dremel tool and cutoff wheel, it's fairly soft plastic. Anyway I cut a little at a time until it sits about as flush as it can be while still tightening down onto the shaft. The stick is solid plastic, so there is no worry of messing anything up cutting it. The brass nut is not visible unless you got your head over there and specifically tried to look behind the switch..
