Here's a thread we probably haven't had! Bad ash tray! HA! My ash tray wont stay shut any more on the 2005. I keep some change and a few odds and ends things in it and you normally close the ash tray and push it in slightly and it locks closed. The locking mechanism seems to not want to grab or grab very hard now and the ash tray will fold out into the open position. Is there a way to replace this locking mechanism? I fear its gonna be a 200$ big plastic dash face that's all molded together. Was hoping for a way to just pop the old mechanism out and replace?! Any one have an idea how this is fixed?

It's not an individual part... they sell it as an assembly.

Have you taken it out and looked at it yet? You may be able to adjust it yourself...

 

I've taken mine out many times, just can't remember what the catch looks like...

 

So there could be an adjustment? I really cant see how anything comes out. It all appears to be molded together. Would be just my luck to break something. That's why I wanted to get info here to go check.
