Question To anyone who has installed Diamond plate mud flaps

I just had my Diamond Plate step and mud flap set up delivered today. My question is with the flaps. Anyone who has installed these, did you put any type of rubber, double sided tape, or some sort of non-abrasive cushion between the flap and the body? I held the flap up to the body where its supposed to mount on the wheel well, and to me it looks that the diamond pattern will easily start rubbing and wearing through the paint and eventually cause a rust problem down the road. I dont want to install these, and have the paint wear off and start getting rust bubbles on the wheel well lip.

If anybody has done this, what did you use, and how is it holding up??

Thanks for any advice

I have had my aluminum bracketed flaps on for almost a year now and no rubbing problems, and thats through one salty winter, course i got em bolted down real good. Just make sure they are on real tight and i think you will be o.k.

If you run a strip of black electrical tape on the metal, perhaps two thicknesses, i think that would help protect the surfaces from rub-thru.
You can trim the excess if you don't have a dark truck.
Sure can't hurt and easy to do......bob r...

I have been lookin for some plane jane black rubber flaps for my dually. I have found some but they are universal and I would like to have a set that are made specifally for a dodge dually to make sure they fit/look right. Anybody have any suggestions and where to get some like that?

If you want something plain that fit very well go to the dealer, the ones i took of to install my fancy ones were the factory ones and they were well made and a good fit.
