Anyone take a hit with a Buckstop Rear Bumper?

Anyone take a hit with a Buckstop Rear Bumper? I was quoted $800 w/ shipping and 4" lights.
I am leaning more toward the Buckstop rear bumper rather than the Boss Hog ($500 shipped) R/H style. The R/H is a little hard/ commercial looking. I am just hoping the Buckstop will be strong enough for me. I don't mind it bending a little as it is cheaper to replace a $800 bumper than doing bodywork to the quarters.

A little rice burner backed into me last summer. My 03 Buckstop rear bumper rolled right up about 3 inches. I was not pleased, but more to the point I was not impressed with the Buckstop.....it failed on just a slow parking lot hit.

Further, I suggest you ask how other members Buckstop Powder Coat has lasted. My 03 Buckstop front bumper is peeling and rusting bad. This summer I am going to blast it to bare steel, prime with PPG Expoy primer and shoot PPG MOA Chassis Black.

For the money spent, I am far from impressed. I have never seen powder coat, exposed to the elements last like they claim it should. From now on, if I cant buy the item in bare steel, and I paint, I dont buy.

Real powder coat does not peel, period. Chip, maybe, but not peel. Sounds like a bogus claim.

Well, dont know. I have had 3 cross bed tool boxes that were powder coated.....peeled. Buckstop front bumper, flat areas on the side....peeled. The Buckstop started with some rust spots, probably water then got underneath, pieces peeled off. Running lights that were powder coated...peeled. Never say never.

Consider having it Line-X'd. I had my FabFours done that way and it looks great. Also since it is a bedliner material, it has some non-slip capabilities too...

I am very concerned about the strength more so than the rust even though I am in the snow/salt/rust belt. A quart of POR is cheaper that the boyd work.
I wonder if I am better of with a R/H style Boss Hog. The R/H guy said it is heavy and will come on a pallet.
Everything I ever bought in powder coat has peeled. Even my campchef outside stove peeled in sheets. I will ask if I can get it in raw steel. It seems as if just a little rust starts it crawls under it like a colony of termites.

I am in the Adirondack Mts of NY. Salt, road crud, brutal cold, snow and Ice are the norm. I guess it takes a toll on powder coat. Powder coat I have had done on interior pieces of my trucks has held up well.

All my trucks have Line-X Bed liners. When new they look great. Then they get dirty and you have to really work with a brush and soap to clean. And thats OK. However, consider Line-X on a front bumper. During the summer every Bug in the World is smashed into the Line-X. It would be a on-going hard job to keep it looking presentable.

When I restore a truck, the frame gets blasted to bright and shiny steel, then its coated with Pickle X-20, Then shot with PPG MP 170 Epoxy Primer, then top coated with PPG MOA Chassis Black (satin finish). My front bumpers, winches are also done the same way. Its a rough and tough finish, I have never had a chip on a frame and my trucks are off road. I see no reason you could not order a bumper in raw steel, have the wipe it down with oil to prevent rust and ship it. Once Powder coat gets a chip, the rust starts. No More powder coat on any exposed surface for me. I talked to a local company that does powder coat about re-coating my Buckstops. I would, blast them bright and shiny, then he could coat them. His answer......I can do it.....but without any type of guarantee whatsoever....it wont hold up well. So there is the answer, a company in the Adirondacks know it wont hold up. So why do so many companies powder coat their products......ITS CHEAP and FAST and out the door

Thats all powder coating is in my book. They have no waist in factories and it all comes out the same. I have been using KBS coatings (POR) and it has been great.

Umm, may be a bigger problem in some areas than others, something to consider though...

I recently backed into a Nissan Altima. Pushed it about a yard or two. Crumpled the hood, wasted the bumper, and smashed the grille. My Frontier rear bumper wasn't even scratched. I was impressed.
