Thanks for input. Seems like most like the dura grappler. For my limited off road I think it will be fine. I'd rather have more life, hopefully at least 60k. My truck has 60k on it and the toyos are dated summer of '08. So this truck has used two sets in 60k! The sticker shows the original set as optional A/T. I think what wears these tires is the around town steering and turning with all that weight on the front end.

Lost Lake: Can you post a side view pic of those tires on the truck?

I love mine also. Got 20k on them now and still looking and wearing very good. Rotate every 4k miles and I always rotate the spare in with the other 6 tires.

I'm still on the fence about which tires to get. I like the look and tread design of the dura grapplers, but the almost 4000 lb load rating makes me think they will ride rough on crappy pavement when unloaded. I seldomly tow, so most of my driving is unloaded commuting. I've also been looking at the BFG AT's (E rated), Hankook AT-M, Revos, etc. I wish the Yokohama Geolander AT-S were available in a 285/70/17 E rated as I really like those tires.

I saw the 285/70/17 dura grapplers linked from another thread for $735 to my door. That is the least expensive of anything I've looked at. I also need to buy a new set of 35x12.5R17 for my Bronco, so I'm looking at spending $2000 on tires this spring.

I would not buy these tires ever again, 6 monthes and 7000 miles later the rears are down 13/32. Never towed and no heavy loads, I drive EASY, no racing or anything like that. Waste of a hard earned $1000.00.

I highly doubt i will get 25000 miles out of these.

beyerw,

You're saying you don't think you'll get 25K miles out of the Nitto Dura Grappler tires? I could see the terra grapplers or mud grapplers wearing like that, but the Duras are made for long life. Here's a pic of the Dura Grapplers:

The Geolanders have the best AT tread pattern I've ever seen. I just can't justify installing a tire that maxes out@50 psi. I e-mailed Yokohama and asked them to consider releasing an E rated 285-75-17 or a 35" one. I got a form letter saying thanks for the suggestion. There's a vast untapped market out there for a 35" AT in the 17" size.

I have the TG's on my truck now, but will be switching back to the DG's when these wear out (probably soon). My mileage is around 40% with a load so the DG's make more sense. If you tow at all, itll tear the hell out of an AT tire.

^^^ +1 Yes towing is hard on an A/T tire. The open A/T lugs flex under high torque and steering which causes rapid wear. A rib style or closed lug is best for pavement and high loads.

Well I have 30K+ on mine and just had them rotated and the guys at Discount are amazed how little they are wearing. They think I'll get 60-70k out of them. On my truck I'm running 58 rear and 65 front unloaded and 70 rear loaded. So far I've had these in wet grass, mud and for a street tire they do very very well for me. They are great when pulling very stable. I am running 285's
