Anyone Else Disappointed????

So here is my story...... up until a month or so ago I was really missing my 2002 CTD. But with some time and, unfortunatly some cash, for aftermarket parts I got the new truck to where I enjoyed driving it. But I am sick and tired of the PLASTIC STUFF on these new trucks. I rubbed a deer the other night and of course there goes the front 100% plastic bumper, that will be bumper number 4 on this truck.

So then when I'm fretting about that situation and walk around my truck and see my lisence plate lights both smashed out of the bumper from the rocks on the gravel road, I start questioning QUALITY.

Two days later I hop in to start it at work and look over at the passenger window and yup you guessed it, its cracked........... for absolutly no other reason than to P*SS me off.

So then that day when I'm driving home pondering the situation - and listening to my plastic squeak and rattle in my truck, I wonder why the manufacturers wont just give a guy a TRUCK.............

I mean I paid for a one tonne Diesel TRUCK, not a little compact plastic car. I need it to be tough, I beat these things, always have and always will. I almost expect some mechanical short comings from my driving habits. Do I need to spend thousands of dollars and hours and hours, which I dont have to fix the short comings of the truck masterminds that design and build them???????????

am I the only one that this lack of "TRUCK" upsets????????

I think thats all I have to say right now.......

I found these 3rd gen trucks to be a lot more quality then the 2gen.hands down. Those 2nd gen front valance and bumber just about fell off by themselves. These 3rd gens are a lot more quiet and far less squeaks/rattles then 2nd gens.Maybe your just hard on a vehicle.

Mine's 2 years old, never had a problem with anything, you must be awfull hard on your vehicles or something?
I don't think the passenger window just cracked suddenly all by itself...

My 05' only has 30K but makes some very odd noises....Its like a Demon lives on the inside of the passenger door and the sliding rear window is possesed as well. I had a wierd squeeking sound from the front suspension and thankfully being still under the 3/36 warranty got a new track bar and new tierod end at the pittman arm to cure it. My truck also had a horrific case of the 1-2 shift shudder which was fixed via the TSB thats out which called for replacing the Governor solenoid pressure valave deal.

Mine is an early build 05' so I'm blessed with the plastic end caps on my intercooler as well...I almost wish they would just pop today so i can get the metal one on warranty!!

Short of that so far I do like the truck alot....I wont like being out of factory warranty next month though!

put a real bumper on it (ranch hand, frontier, reunel, buckstop, advanced maufacturing etc.) and stop complaining about it. you should have figured that after the first bumper, but certainly after the second!! sounds like the type of roads your constantly on, any truck would be loosening up a lot.. and what gives with 4 bumpers?? you didn't actually have 4 altercations with deer did you?

There are a few people that have reported window failures. The way the bottom edge is clamped has a pressure point the causes this to happen. The window should be replaced free at the dealer.

I agree these trucks are built very thin and cheap,I have a 06 and I think the sheetmetal is barely thicker then tin foil.and the bumpers are the worst ever and also super thin.I do like the looks of the truck and love the cummins, but my 96 chevy was built far better then this, but maybe all of the new trucks are built this cheap.

no, not all of the newer ones are built this way. my '99, '05, and the '08 fords use far heavier gauge sheet metal. the first things i noticed on my new dodge was how thin the sheet metal is, and how thin the paint is. both are really pathetic for work trucks. i must say, ford wins those 2 by a long shot. my dream truck is the '08 ford with a cummins in it!

I'd have to disagree about Fords and 05s etc.having thicker metal and paint. The truck will last as long as the engine if you take reasonable care of it.They are trucks on here with 300k plus on them.I had a trailer delivered to me and the 05 Dodge had 559k and change on the odometer. Some folks are hard on vehicles in just normal use.Just plain rough on stuff. We all see those kind of vehicles or have a realitive etc.that could make one look old in 30k.

Very true. I know a few people that say they treat trucks like trucks are "Supposed" to be treated. They are very hard on them and the trucks look like they would have 500k + on them when atcually they have less than 50k. I don't mind using my truck like a truck but I still take care of it to keep it looking AND running as close to new as possible.
