anyone driven an 06'
Christophers dodge world here in denver has a ton of them, www.cdodge.com.
Just wondering if anyone has driven an 06', and what were the changes if any?
The Chevy sites have pages and pages of 06' info and I dont read anything here. seems strange to me.

I won't be driving one. They could smell like roses and run on methane and I still don't think I would drive one. UGLY!!!!!!!
I do like the interior though.

Everything is virtually the same, aside from the interior changes, the seats are NICE! power rear slider option, and the Grill/headlights are different. I think they are ugly in the front, but then again I thought that for the first few months about every new dodge...lol Then I go buy one.
yes I love the interior, Im wanting the raised center console wit hthe two cup holders and the faux wood finish. Sure would love to get a 5 or 6 speed tranny, for the MPG factor. The Dodges get roughly 18-20 MPG witha 4speed auto and the Chevy and Fords get similiar with a 5 and 6 speed auto, dont you think the Dodge would get 20-25 HWY with a 6 speed?

I tried your link Trout74, looks like the 06's are Hemi. Notice the prices on the 06s are all over $3000 less than the 05s. My guess the 05s over $40k are diesels.
What's with the "raised center console"? So how would anyone sit in the middle if necessary? If it's an option-ok, but if they placed a bunch of junk in the middle like the chevy I'd be pi$$3d. Ever try reacing down on the floor for a drink on the chevy cup holder--its a real pain.

The shifter **** has a tow/haul AND an overdrive lockout switch , but the salesman tells me that there is nothing different on the '06 as far as the drivetrain goes . No one at the dealership could answer my questions about the tranny and the availability of an exhaust brake from the dealer with the 48re so I walked away without driving the truck .
In '06 you're supposed to be able to get the Jake Brake on the automatic tranny. This makes me wonder if the torque converter is different on the '06 (better), however I had read somewhere that it was just an electronics update.
Supposedly the frame is different in '06, however I think that is just on the 1500, as I have yet to find any solid information on anything changing on the 2500/3500 for 2006 other than appearance and a few new options.
Someone over at Allpar has said that for '06 the 3500 has been designated a "D1" model code (I think Rams are DR?). The idea behind that is that when the 4500/5500 come out, the 3500 will be D1, 4500/5500 will be D2/D3 respectively. I'd expect the 3500 to become "Heavier Duty" than the 2500 when these new Medium Duty trucks arrive (sounds funny, eh?).

dodgeathear, welcome to the site!
I'm not clear on ALL the upgrades, what I know at this point: Electronics to control TC lockup/unlock and a beefed up thrust washer to handle the reversed directional gear loading under compression braking. The upgraded TC makes sense, though.

I'm going to Cornett Chrysler/Dodge in Irvine, KY tomorrow to LOOK at a few '06 2500's that have made it in....I'll take the camera and post pics. Hope I don't wind up with a new one.

Got to see a guys 06 today, all I can say is wow that thing is nice. I really like the new interior, the seats are nice. Didn’t have time to drive it yet but he said to come back and give it a spin. I really like the power rear window and the sunroof. The power pedals are a nice touch as well. I also like the new headlights and grill. I will let you guys know what I think after I drive it. The engine is much more quite than my rattle box.

06 2500 and Mega-Cab
I got up close looks at both at the Iowa State Fair this afternoon, even got to sit in the back seat of the Mega-Cab. To those of you who think they are ugly, make sure you see one in person. For some reason they don't transfer to photos well, but in person both look really good. The back seat room in the Mega-Cab is enormous. I love the interior and exterior both. I also got to see how the nav system works, it's pretty cool. The Mega-Cab on display today was actually the same one that made the rounds at the US auto shows (at least Chicago and NY). I can not wait to drive both when they arrive in dealerships here in the next couple of months.
The Mega-Cab was a 3500 Laramie 4X4, fully loaded (nav, sirius, sunroof, DVD in rear, power rear window, etc), and the window sticker was just over $53,000. Guess I'll be buying a used one. . .
