Looking for a roof rack for an '06 Megacab. Have a Leer cap on the back. Would like to get some idea what's out there for a light/medium duty rack. The sort to put a canoe / kyack/ ladder on the top. Would consider drilling into the Leer cap for the right sort of installation if necessary so long as it can be done right and stay watertight.

The usual application is Thule or Yakima tracks which enable you to use their towers and build from there. The tracks distributes the load evenly.

 

My brother had a Snugtop shell on his Tacoma that we drilled for a Thule rack. The fiberglass was easy to drill and in 7 years he never had a problem with leaks or cracking. The section of fiberglass we drilled was double layer. I drilled the first layer and injected some epoxy in the cavity around the holes. I also used 1.5" diameter washers on the bottom side to distribute the load. The runners are available in multiple lengths, I would go with the longest that will fit.
