Any idea on my suddenly light steering issue
Driving my 2008 2500 4X4 today and in the matter of a few miles, my steering went from normal to extremely light. At a red light, I can turn lock to lock with just my pinky at the inside of the steering wheel spoke. From full right lock, I can give the steering wheel a good shove and it will spin all the way to full left lock. It’s like it is extra assisted. There is nothing from a visual inspection to note and the power steering fluid is good. Truck has 133k miles, original power steering pump and it’s got about 20k miles on its second (warranted in 2022) redhead steering box (4 bolt). I have ALL the common front suspension and steering upgrades but it’s been in this setup for thousands of miles and this was a one mile to the next change so I assume it’s either the box or the pump. Any input would be appreciated before I drop $1k for a 6 bolt gear box.
Thanks! In a few weeks I’m taking a 1500 mile, week long road trip with the 5th wheel so I’m making this a priority.

I’m a new driver and just finished work and my steering felt oddly light pulling out of the driveway (I work in a supported living home)…then after the first few corners in my 20 minute drive home felt weird and really light. I panic called my housemate who’s driven my car longer than me and he laughed when I said steering feels light. He said he would take a look when he’s home but he tends to say nothing is a problem…i have work at 7am and im now worried if theres an issue then that could cause a problem on my way to work when none of my friends who can help will be awake….
