Any cup smoothie owners?

Purchased the cup smoothie from geno's and need some help. They say you can adjust the latch by shimming it. I've done everything and now when I closed the lid, It's locked. It takes 5 minutes of EDIT around to get it back open. They also sent some velcro with it. Is this their solution for the lid if you can't get the lid to latch. What have others done?

I love my cup smoothie. On the second gen all I had to do is turn the latch post counterclockwise (raising it) for the lid to latch correctly. Not sure if yours is the same. Give Genos a call they will help you if this doesnt work.

What happens is that the latch handle jams against the lip in the handle recess on the Smoothie. I trimmed the horizontal lip off with a Dremel, dressed it a bit with a fine file, and needed no shims at all. And the change is not apparent - completely hidden when the lid is closed. Prior to trimming, I had 4 washers under each screw, and the latch still jammed occasionally.

Thanks JIMCTD, I'll give that a try. It also has a mechanism so that the lid won't pop open when the whole console is lifted up. I was thinking it was jamming. I've already cut the plastic piece that clips to the under side of the lid. Broke all the clips on the bottom trying to get it off. What an ordeal!!

I have one for sale cheap if anyone is interested. I had the same type issues trying to shim just right to close. I finally just gave up. Now that I have my CB mount installed won't work anyway.

Would be lost without the smoothie! That latch issue sort of torqued me off too! After many assembly attempts thinking I must just be missing something!!! I noticed the latch hitting the plastic of the cut-out that wouldn't allow the latch to fully close! Aw, cut it out!

Same as the others I used a dremel and notched it out. I had one on my 2001 and would not be without one.

What in the world is a cup smoothie?? Call me sheltered. I've read through this thread in an attempt to figure out what this thing is with no results. Help me visualize what a cup smoothie is!

Festus -
the cup smoothie is a cup holder that attaches to the center console of the truck. genosgarage.com sells them for dodge trucks and the work very well.

I have mine trimmed and shimmed. Still have some problems getting it to latch on occassion.

I liked the adjustment on the 2nd gen Dodge console latch; unfortunately the 3rd gen doesn't have an adjustable latch.

Love mine! Had to do some tinkering around as well to get it to latch correctly but all is well now.

Could be considered a critical safety item for 6 shooters that drink and drive! Java of course! But how do these smoothies work with the G? Anybody got one? How's that 4th & 6th throw? Does it clear things comfortably?
