Annoying squeak from rear of truck

Does anyone have squeaks in the truck??? When I hit bumps in these wonderful Missouri roads, I've got a short, pronounced high pitch squeak. I've sprayed WD-40 on the shackles in the rear and the shock bushings, it's not noticeable on the highway, but the roads around town SUCK and it's quite noticeable. I'm tired of my $40k truck squeaking like an old Chevy. I think it might be the e-brake cables rubbing the "eyelet" holder in the rear wheel well. I'm lubing this next to see if it eliminates it. There's really not much in the rear of the suspension to squeak, so I've got to find it pretty soon. Post up if you found or eliminated a common annoying squeak...

Check the spare tire and make sure it's tight against the frame.

Checked the spare, that was a good idea, but it was tight. I made an appt. with the dealer to look at it, but they usually do their best to "blow off" complaints like this. I'm sure they will say that it is due to my lift or something of that nature... Any more good ideas?

The squeak is your leaf springs , remove the rear tires ,jack truck up on the frame so rear susp drops and pressure wash the springs, it will go away . If you put grease or something there it only attracts dirt and crap making it reappear.

It might be, but I wouldn't think so, the truck's only got 4k miles on it and never been in mud, snow, or even on a gravel road... If that's what it is then I'll be pi$$ed because it's gonna be an ongoing problem...

Check the plastic bushings on the tailgate hinged. I was missing one.

I'm pretty sure it's underneath. The local steeler is looking at it on Mon. I doubt they'll find it though. They'll probably say "Sorry dood, but we can't finger it out"... lol I'll check the tailgate though and would appreciate any more ideas...

I had an annoying rattle/squeak from the rear. It was hard to track down. Finally found it by having someone heavy jumping up and down on the rear bumper and while he jumping on the bumper I was underneath checking. It turned out to be a loose shock mount, top bolt. Just tightened it up and bingo, no more noise.
When you do finally track down and fix that squeak, please let us all know what it was.

Mine does the same thing...I notice it when I go to climb in the back...it squeaks from underneath. I will try what Mexstan said and see if it does the same thing.

For some reason mine won't duplicate the noise by jumping on the rear. I'll check the upper shock mounts though, because mine are aftermarket shocks.

Well I don't know what it was, but I tightened the upper shock bolts, which were pretty tight anyway, and I also dropped the spare down and spun it 90deg. and tightened it back. Surprisingly the squeak is gone. There were some pretty deep wear marks in the sidewall of the spare from where it was rubbing, so I'm assuming that's what it was. I don't know how that spare will last long rubbing around under there. My trucks only got 4k on it, and I bet they will be all the way through by 40k... Thanks DTR members for all the help...

The weird thing was, the spare wasn't loose at all. It moved just enough to squeak I guess. The winch thing that raises it just doesn't get quite tight enough to keep it from squeaking. Oh, well I guess if it comes back in a few thousand miles I'll know what it is... Thanks again
