Altec -Double Sided Tape OR Screws?!?
I got the NEW Altec running board LED lights. The instructions state that you need to drill 5/32" holes on the bottom of the rocker to attach the light strip.
I really DO NOT like drilling holes on new sheetmetal. SO, I was contemplating 3M double sided tape instead. The light bar is very light (get it ), but seriously, it is very lightweight.
Will 3M tape hold it or will it eventually fall off???

Maybe a bead of clear silicone RTV?? Have GLUED LARGE speakers to a ceilling years ago with it and it held but when needed to be removed caused very little damage.Kinda my first choice over screws or tape.

There are TWO versions of the 3M double-sided auto tape. One has a GREEN backing tape and the other is RED. Both are listed for automotive but the RED is stronger.
Should I go with the RED or GREEN? Has anyone used the RED, if so, was it very hard to remove later on?

It can't be as strong as the stuff they use to apply the "badges" and it comes off with bug and tar remover (and a little elbow grease). They also use the stuff (red backing) to attach the "gutter" on shower doors so it must be water resistant. I think it will probably work well. The silicone is also a good idea, provided you can leave the truck parked and dry for 10 to 24 hrs (in a row).
