Is this normal? I have the factory alarm system, and if I used the key to unlock the door the alarm sounds immediately. So the only way to really unlock the door right now on my 07 is to use the remote.

Please advise...

Take it to the dealer and see what is wrong?????/ I cant see why you would be having the alarm go off by using the Key to enter the Truck??? Why not use the keypad anyway???? It is a part of the key now so it is not like you have to fumble around with it!!!

 

I am worried about how to use the truck if the remote fails. There are a lot of things that will kill these key fobs.

they way i understand it. IF the doors are locked with the key fob, it must be unlocked with the key fob, not by manual sticking the key in. If you stick the key in the ignition, it will read the the chip and turn off the alarm. That would be your failsafe if your keyfob stops working. I have dropped mine in a lake and used it 5 min later, no problem, they are bullet proof...they should have a little cummins "C" on the back of them, like a halo!
