Aftermarket Bumpers. Cause for concern?

I always hear and read on here how Dodges front ends dont hold up well. The fact the CTD is so heavy probably doesnt help that fact. Is this all just idle rumor?
I am looking to purchase a nice, heavy duty RA bumper but if our front ends are under enough strain with the weight of the cummins on it Id rather pass and give my front end a break.
Any validity to this guys?

well its always a good idea to give the front end some help with product like don thuren and sean lorenzo to name a few. my replacment is greater than 200# and i havent had any problems. i did install a 2" leveling kit to make it look better though. shane has an alien patrol bumper which is similar to the road armor serier and maybe he can give some of his input since iy will have more similarities than mine

I've had the Road Armor on for arounf 2000 miles. No complaints yet. My truck hasn't been affected negatively FWIW.

My RA bumper saved my front end and my butt last week. So, I think I am ahead already. I was driving down the freeway when the rear left tire on the car in front of me " fell off ". it hit the cement divider and flipped around and hit my bumper dead on, rim and tire. If i would have been at stock height with a stock bumper it would have been really expensive. As it was, i went home and wiped the tire marks off with some gasoline and " it's all good ". I originaaly got the bumper for deer, didn't think I would be killin' tires.

I have had mine on since 2003 and going on 106k miles. I am doing real good. I keep an alingment perfect all the time. I have the Lorenz Coils on it too. I think the Bilsteins have really done it from day one: about 70k miles really. Well I rearended someone monday and again 2 years ago and my bumper saved my edited by admin speaking of safety. I will tell you that the bolts that mount it to the frame snapped in half. I went and bought some Grade 8 bolts which anyone should request.

over 30K with RanchHand Legend

After I hit a cow at night dead on at 70 mph on unlit I-35 a little south of Dallas with only a little over 3k miles on the clock, I opted for the Ranch Hand Legend front end. The bugger hit just below the Dodge crosshair and caused just under $12k in damage to the front end. Geico mercifully cover the entire cost minus deductible. Now just about to roll over 35k on the odometer with no problems.
