Angry Advertising Atrocity!

I just picked up the June 2004 issue of Truckin magazine. On page 26 there's an advertisment for a Nissan Titan. The picture shows a Titan pulling a big boat and it's passing a Dodge Ram!

I find this really irritating. How can they claim such a situation? I'd love to meet a Titan someday on the road, both of us towing, and blow it's doors right off!

Just wanted to get this off my chest.

See, what they fail to tell you is that the Dodge was actually shut off and parked there.

Now Now, let the Japs have their commercial. I too had a good laugh when I saw it, and I also await the day I smoke a "Titan". Funny thing is, now they are comparing themselves to the Dodge. Not the Ford, not the Chevy, but our forgotten truck. Perhaps its their " Best in Class" gimmick, or whatever, but there aint no way I am gonna take their truck seriously. I'm with Doom- the Dodge was backing up!!

About the only thing they could compare that Titan to would be a 1500 w/4.7L... I've seen that ad before and had to laugh... The only way that they can get away with it is to make their 305HP motor standard equipt in the 1/2 ton class (which is all they currently make), then say it has the "most standard HP in it's class" perhaps true when compared to Dodge's 4.7L and whatever the heck Chevy offers (I don't care enough to even look). Both the Hemi and the CTD would eat it for lunch.

I'd like to hook up a two CTD's to the front and rear of one of those and then tear it in half!

Not saying I like the Titan (because I don't & I think it is rather ugly) but in Feb. Car and Driver tested 4 door 1/2 tons and had some unusual results. 1)Titan 2)F150 (5.4) 3)Ram (Hemi) 4) Tundra & 5) Silverado. Those were overall placings. As far as performance: The Titan hit 60 in 7.6 and the Ram in 8 flat. Now these numbers were unloaded. I suspect adding a trailer or 1500lbs in the bed would have changed things a little.
These are 1/2 tons, so you can't really compare our CTDs to them fairly. Also, the "all-new" F150 that is supposed to be so powerful was the slowest to 60 @ 9.3seconds.

Sorry for the length,

Nick

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah what they said in the commercial is true. What they didn't tell you was that it was a standard equiped with the 3.7ltr. Of course I could pull a trailer behind my bicycle and beat them both
Don't sweat the small stuff, just laugh and know that we drive what every one else wants

Bottom line: The Titan is not in "our class".

I just saw the new Dodge Hemi commercial advertising "Best in Class Power". The funny part was it pulling in front of a Titan. I guess Dodge showed them

HighTen,

Why get so bent out of shape over an ad? We all know how great Dodges are and Nissan has always exagerated in their ads. There are folks that find the Nissans more suited to their needs, and they are good at what they do. The Dodge is a different animal and I don't care if someone doesn't get it, I get it, and I have one.
Also, the most important thing in advertising is to make people remember your name. Right or wrong, truth or not. Looks like it worked.

That one is almost as good as Tiger Woods being the spokesman for Buick. I'm sure he spent his youth dreaming of the day when he could own his very own Roadmaster.

irritating? . . . IRRITATING? . . . I beg to differ. No, that's not irritating. Advertising a "stool softener" during the dinner hour! Now THAT is irritating!
