AC problems Temp Difference between sides

I have been fighting with the dealer for a month now over my AC. They finally got the thing to cool down to close to what it used to. But now there is a 20 degree difference between the drivers and passenger side vents. The drivers side will reach 60 and the passenger side will olny cool to 80, that is with it being 80-90 degrees outside.

Has anyone had a similar problem that they have had fixed. The dealer is clueless and I am running out of patients. All I want is the stupid thing fixed would like to be able to tell them that this is the fix.

Mostly, kinda the same deal on mine.Has your dealer called STAR(tech assistance)I'm sure there are lots of this problem out there.Mine will cool to withen a few degrees of even right to left.Come to a stop on a 93 degree day and pass side all of a sudden shoots up to near ambient temp(high 80s blasting you from rt side vents)pull off it trys to cool back to d/side vents. Mine has recenty had a fin temp sensor and relocation(was freezing up on long trips)which I don't know if its repaired or not.Was found 4 ounces low on freon(also low last summer, dye added) Does not seem to do this on RECIR more on FRESH. Pass.side folkes go CHEE WHIZ its blasting HOT air.Wife hates it. On COOL mornings(high 70s)its not anywhere near as noticeable. I keep asking them to call STAR and pick their brains and I get the deer in the headlight look.I'm also going to MAKE sure D.C.is aware(1800-992-1997) so if warranty runs out I can hound them for a few more years until a CURE is found.Very few if any 05s have posted a problem. Its all 03s and some 04s. Mine was NOT like this when first bought.I have a AC thermometer in d/side and pass side vents I watch. Can get at any auto parts store for about $5 bucks each.Mine also shoots out lots of humid vapor from d/side when my other vehicles do not(never pass side).Indicates a cooling problem.I think a evaporator problem. But only a guess which really dosn't mean much.

AC problems

I had the same problem: took it back to the dealer and they determined that the AC was not full of (freon) or what ever they use now to make cold air. Service rep stated the system was working harder than necessary to cool the truck??? But anyway, I have a local dealer (within 5 min). But I have not had good luck with them BS,BS,BS so I take my truck to DE (about 45min away). They do a better job and I have not had any BS YET.

Good luck

Yes its called freon. They topped mine off and found it 4 ounces low.I want to get it evacuted totaly(should have a minus number pressure wise when evacuted) and recharged with the prescribed amount and then see.

Should have clarified

I did not even ask and the service manager stated "emptied the whole system and refilled" he also stated it was better to do it that way then to top off. They also ran some dye through it and stated no leak found at this time. He said if the temp drops off again, "might be leak". But he could not find one that day... Have not had any other problems

I've had alot of them come through for that issue. Reclaiming, evacuating, and recharging seems to take care of it. There is also more air volume out of the two drivers vents than the passenger side. Must be a design issue because for years it's been the opposite. I'm also quite certain that they did away with the fin temp sensor on the DR trucks (03 and newer). I'll try to back that up with solid facts.

I've seen this complaint posted several times. Mine is the same. But after running for a while, both sides seem to level out and the system blows really cold.

Ok. This is going to sound stupid (or crazy) but after doing the Rokktech crankshaft sensor mod the A/C performance is better. Others reported the same. There's a theory to this here. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...916#post736916

My AC now makes a loud click noise when I turn it on. The condenser (I think) was repalced last summer under warranty. It would not get cold at all and they did the leak/dye test on it. Now I am out of warranty and it doesn't seem like it gets as cold as it used to, especially when sitting still. Any ideas?

Well my truck is at the dealer for the 4th time, at least they are being nice and corroperative and trying to fix it. This has to be a design flaw.

Thumbs up AC solution still working after 2 months!

I've posted before on this subject and had the same issue many of you are having - freezing up on long drives (blowing full blast w/ no air flow); passenger side 15F warmer than driver side....It's low on freon, but why on a closed system?

Dealer REPLACED the evaporator at 35K. I wouldn't stand for a freon top off thanks to many of your posts! He's a five star dealer and admitted that DC has had evap issues when I confronted him with your info.

Going on 2 months now and still blowing cold both sides! Even works great on fresh air mode. Temp here in Florida been 95-98F on the road. Hope this helps.

The dealer is currently replacing the entire AC housing gecause they think it was incorrectly molded and is not allowing the blend doors to function properly, thus causing the temperature difference.

Well I got the truck back and there is still a 20 degrees difference between the two side so the housing wasn't it.

The worst part they gave the the truck back with both front door panels having gashes in them, the kick panel under the steering wheel scratched up, and a scratch in the front passanger fender. Do the mechanics at dealers not use fender covers?
