The can fitting will only fir on one of the truck fittings. The small one. Don't worry, it is almost impossible to screw up ! Follow the guage readings and you should be fine.

Should be around 30. There is a green section on the guage telling you what is acceptable and whats not.

Just keep hands and feet clear of moving parts! LOL Nah, really, just read the directions and shut the can off when the pressure gets where it needs to be. I would hook it up without having the can turned on just to see where the pressure is now, then count how long it takes to get pressure to come up a pound or two, then kind of guage your "can open" time from that. Good luck!

Not being rude but get a repair book on the Dodge,I do alot of my work but even if you just do the small things it's still nice to have, like the AC ur doing.

The other side of it is just becuse someone tells you how to do this and that does not mean there right, not saying it would happen here but there are some @**holes out there.

My neighbor is one claims to know all kinds of auto stuff, bought a Geo tracker off him for $400 becuse he though the mass airflow sensor, timing and fuel pump were bad,I removed the ERG valve cleaned it and runs like a champ and no more missfires or codes.

Againe NO ONE HERE would steer you wrong, from what I have seen.

I did mine just a few months ago, and again, it is hard to mess up, but do get a repair manual while you are there, and it will show you exactly where to hook it up.

Well I must be doing something wrong. With the truck running and compresser going the guage reads 0 with the truck off it goes up to 50 psi. It doesnt seem like the canister is going into the truck either. Whats going on here. And yes the pin did puncture the can. HELP!!!! Im burning up!!!

CowboyDave, as long as you made sure you hooked into the low pressure side of the line, just keep putiing the freon in there until the pressure stabilizes. My pressure, before I started charging the system, was bouncing around from 0-40 or 50 (I don't remember how high but it was in the red zone on the gauge that came with the can) and finally stabilized after about a half a can of charge.

Yea with the engine turned off it went to 50 with engine running and compressor on it stays at 0, doesnt move. How long did it take to empty the can? BTW I have the larger can.

The whole system should hold near 3 cans or so if it was totally empty. If the freon is not going into the system there is only 2 options. The can isn't pierced, or the fitting isn't on the line right. But......if you can read the 50 psi when the truck is off, you obviously have the fitting on right. If the can IS pierced you may have to give it 5 minutes or so for the freon to go into the system. Other than that, try turning the can upside down. Oh, and you ARE trying to put it in while the truck is running right?
