abs brake problems

After fuelling up last night and leaving the station the dinger went off and the abs light came on, i pulled over as i could here a noise comming from under the hood. I shut the truck off but the noise continued, i opened the hood and the pump for the abs was running, the only way i could get it to stop was to pull the fuse. Anybody else ever have this happen? I am guessing maby some sort of relay is shorting out, any suggestions? I hate going in to the dealers blind, especially with abs problems, could get real expensive. the brakes are working fine, and i was not pressing on the brake pedal when this happened. Thanks guys (& gals)
P.S. no warranty left.

ABS problems with 139k miles

I did a search and this post is all I came up with. I've got the same symptoms.

Wow, I guess we are lucky, it seems this happens a lot more to Chevy's.

I ordered a complete Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) today for about $400 and from what I read in the service manual I need a DRB III to test and program or initialize the unit.

Hey Roadrat what was your resolution to this problem?

I got the new HCU but think I'm going to try just changing the electronics module.

My truck's ABS/Brake Light was on earlier in the year.

It was not storing a fault code, but was showing that the front driver side ABS sensor was not within range.

I pulled the rotors from both sides and unbolted the ABS sensor in each hub.

I then cleaned the grease off of the tip on the sensor and re-applied some axle grease to the sensor's tip.

One week later the ABS/Brake Lights went off and never came back on!
