4x4 badge fell off tailgate
4x4 badge fell off tailgate
while washing the truck Saturday I noticed that one of the 4's of the 4x4 on the tailgate was missing. I then took a closer look and the "x" was just about ready to go also.
Has anyone else had problems with badges falling off?
I guess I'll go see I can get some new ones.

Stickers put on by the dealer can be removed using a hair dryer. Carefully lift a corner and gradually pull it off while putting some heat, from a hair dryer, to it. Don't use a heat gun - you'll burn off the paint!

Main thing is, keep moving the gun around and feel the temp of the surfaces with you hand (while the gun is pointed away from that area). Works for me.
I debadged my 2003 hemi and my 2004 CTD. On the hemi I tried the heat and fishing line and elbow grease. Got it done, but it was slow and painful.
What I did on the 2004 was this.
I took a sharp plastic scraper and shaved the badges off as close the the badge as possible. Leaving as much of the 3M tape in place as I could. I did use painters blue tape above and below the badge line to keep from scrathing the paint. Start on one corner/edge of the tape, get it just started away from the paint. Then pull slow and steady as close to the paint as possible. The tape will come apart internally and just release from the paint. It seems not engineered to have any strength from this pressure. You must pull sideways only and not up. I got about half of the badge tape off in one piece with almost no residue left. One wipe with goo and it was gone.
It worked for me and saved a lot of time and sore fingers/thumbs. Try one badge this way and see if you can master the method. It wont cost you anything to try and you may find it works fairly easy.

Mine were removed to fix a dent and after I saw how much they cost, I left them off.
