488 miles, 1 week, back to dealer for....***?

Decided to wash my shiny, new, Flame Red Ram today and found a couple of quarter sized anomalies on my shiny, red hood. Looks like clear coat is history....will inspect the remainder of the truck tomorrow, so I may find more. Quite frankly, this just sucks..double sucks because red was my third choice...Recommendations?

Thanks in advance,
buck-nasty

I had some scratches in my hood I found before I drove off the lot and the dealer fixed it. I did find wierd spots on the rocker panel. It's not a scratch it looks like a piece of metal in the paint. If I took it off it would need paint so I left it alone. I bought two professional polishers and all the pads two take care of future problems. I use to work in a detail shop, so at least I can fix it myself.

It is indeed a clear coat issue; I pulled out my mega-lights and confirmed. I used a light body scrub and spot waxed it, with no change. I cannot see any more issues on the hood however, have not looked at the roof.

Sounds like your truck was assembled in the good ole' USA....IF it was made here there are other threads on this subject in this forum, it seems that trucks painted in the USA got some kind of EPA approved childs watercolors instead of real paint....

Mine was done in Mexico, and about 6 months after I bought it, the paint on the left dually fender came off in a square foot section. Nothing in the last six months, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

if you dont have an extended warranty for your truck, id look into one that atleast will cover a rental vehicle if you will need one. someone told me that you can get them just for that purpose. second get to the dealer as soon as possible. the service manager or someone will have to take pics to submit to DC for their approval. check your roof. mine was worse up. that part takes up to a week. bug them every day too. im on a first name basis w/ my ex-dealer. if there is a dodge body shop go to them instead of some contracter if possible. if you have any other questions drop me a p.m.

Man that sucks. Don't you wish you could wash the truck on the lot before you bring it home? You always see everything when you wash it. I got mine home, washed it the next day, found a 2 inch long x 1/2" wide huge scratch down to the plastic on the upper bumper. It was right next to the chrome and I didn't see it at the dealer. Also found another 1 inch long scratch on the passenger door bottom where someone must have opened it up against something. But I drove it off and it's my fault for not taking 30 minutes to look it over like I should have.

Good luck with your problem, I hope they take care of you.

Plessm- I hear ya! I probably wouldnt of caught this at the lot..it's not that obvious and could be mistaken as a water spot. When I discovered it I immediately had the image of the older Dodges with six inch portions of paint flying off whilst traveling down the freeway..lol. I normally do no finance my vehicles. I'm thinking I should just sell it and find my first color choice..

If you really have only had it a week or so, take it back to the dealer, and if they are any kind of a good dealer, they will fix it. I found scratches in my truck 3 days after I bought it, and I took it back to the dealer, and they fixed it, no questions asked.

Yes, they said bring it in..however, I do not want paint work done on my vehicle in no way whatsoever. I asked if they had a white or silver 06 on the lot. Waiting for a call back from the dealer..So, if anyone is looking for a Flame Red 06 in mint condition let me know.
