3rd Generation Red Paint?

Has anyone had bad luck with the red paint that they put on the 3rd generation trucks?

I really like the red and they are easy to come by, but if the color is going to fade easily or something stupid like that then its not worth getting.

Would anyone suggest why not to get a red colored truck for any reason? I'm talking quality, not what the cops may think.

As an auto painter , I can say you`ll be fine as far as durability and fading with any color now-a-days.

99% of all cars/trucks are base/clear and will last at least 10 yrs. with normal care.

Most Dodge paint jobs are really easy to scratch , and it will show up worse on darkcolors like black and dk. blue , but solid colors like white , yellow , and red will show less imperfections.

if not cared for (washed and waxed regularly), red trucks seem to fade and take on a faded red/washed out look. it's just more noticeable on a red truck- just like black trucks don't scratch easier than other colors, but the scratches show up more.

Mine is an 05 and the paint still looks great. It does get washed a lot and waxed 2-3 times a year.

My 02 was great. Washed bi-weekly, waxed bi-monthly, Clay bar every 6-8 months with all new wax. I still see her on the road during my commute, she looks good, but not as good as when I had her.

Ditto! What he said... Mine has never seen the inside of a garage. I think I waxed it once or twice in 2006. Seriously I do wash it every couple of months due to the sap, bird stuff, and other junk that collects on it from the tree that overhangs it in the driveway. It is always the same when all the dirt is off it. I am sure because my bed cover covers the bed rails and hangs down over them about 3/4 inch or so, thus never being exposed to the elements. Summary: no fading what-so-ever. So far...
