3rd gen wheel centers to 2nd gen wheel trim (dually)

posted in the 2nd gen forum with no luck. are these close enough in size to swap? im wanting to do the whole 3rd gen wheel swap, but i have to find a set first. are the centers the same dimensions so that i could put 3rd gen centers in with the 2nd gen trim? i have stainless covers on now and wanting to put my chrome stockers back on, and im going to have to replace 2 or 3 due to chips and scratches. any info appreciated.

thanks,

jeremy

2nd gens won't fit the 3rd gens. 2nd gens are 16" and 3rd gens are 17". They had to go to 17" in order to get over the bigger brakes.

i know that, but what i was referring to is the center pieces - that cover the lugnuts and hubs. are they similar in size and interchangeable?

Jeremy,

I think the answer to your question is yes.

I know several guys on here have put 3rd gen wheels on their 2nd gen trucks and used the center caps. Here is P.J.'s old truck with the 3rd gen wheels and centers.

still not what i mean. on a dually, there is the factory wheel simulator cover. it is two piece. there is the trim ring and the center piece. the center piece covers just the lug nuts and hub. the trim ring is the actual wheel cover minus the center. are the 2nd gen trims compatible with 3rd gen centers? meaning the 3rd gen centers (with a smooth surface and ram head) replace the 2nd gen centers (with the wheel stud illusion, a couple of accent rings, and ram head). all in all i want the whole 3rd gen dually wheel setup, but lack of availability so far and the need for new centers on my factory 2nd gen leads me to this. i want to get rid of my current stainless covers to put the original factory chrome covers back on.

thanks,

jeremy
