Cool 315 / 70 R 17 BFG All Terrain Tires

Just found 4 brand new 315 / 70 R 17 BFG All Terrain Tires...for a hell-of-deal... wanna put them on my stock rims (they are 17's - right?)...

Any issues I will run into? Do i need a leveling kit right away? (I wanna get one later...)

At full lock they may rub if you hit a bump but it's very minor. Yes they will fit your stock 17" rims and yes they will look great. DO IT!!!!!
I had them on my 03 for a couple years with no issues and no lift at all.....

I ran them on stock wheels for 55k. I had very good luck with them, but I did put a leveling kit on before the tires. I agree DO IT! They seem to be the perfect size for the truck.

Go for it! I had them on my truck without a leveling kit. The only problem I had was they would rub on my mud flaps at full lock.

i got them on my 04 diesel ram 2500
they rub slightly on the inside in 2 places frt only
i got mine off a hummer
paid 200 w rims
almost brand new
l felt like i stole them
sold the rims
sold the stock tires
now you got to buy a spare
just prices one 275 plus mount and balance

I run them on my truck, have 30K+ on the set, NO problems with rubbing and clearance but I did a leveling kit before using them. I also have H2 rims but they would have fit the stock rims just fine, my spare is on a stock rim. NO DW, GREAT tires, I plan to buy another set when these wear out, about 1/2 worn at 30K.

I got 2 sets of 4 on H2 rims for $1,000.00 when I bought mine.

I got them on my truck. The only area where they rub is on the track bars(I think that is the name) at full turn.

Everybody wants to blame the BFG 315s for DW. While they may exacerbate the problem, most of the time there are other issues. Why do you think Dodge just changed the tie rod end/track bar design? Because trucks were rolling off the lot with DW.

To answer the question: I have had two different sets of 315s on both OEM and H2 wheels for 61k and never had the first problem. KORE cured the rubbing on the control arms with the OEM wheels. Run 50 psi up front and 45-48 psi in the rear.

I never had any DW problems either but I also did not put a levelling kit on mine. It seems that most guys w/ the issue have levelling kits....

It seems to me that there are too many factors and possibilities in the DW experience to just come to a conclusion that it is the BFG tires.

As has already been mentioned, Dodge has had this problem with stock vehicles, stock tires right off the sales lot. They also have gone to a design change which seems to currently be working as an overall solution to the problem.

DW has been experienced in the 2WD's and the 4WD's, with or without leveling kits, more often with the spacer kits vrs the other kits that include shocks and springs.

Dodge had a TSB regarding this that began with tire pressure, then a change in the steering stabalizer, in finality a change in the trackbar and ball joints, etc. Basically the re-designed a lot in the front end. The new design IS probably the better because it changes ALL the dynamics/articulation of the front end. All that seems left to do is take a wait and see position on the subject. The only thing that has not been rectified is the play in the steering box itself, maybe the addition of the steering support is all that's left to do if DW continues in the new vehicles with the newly changed front end.

I have yet to experience DW, maybe will never have it, it may even be associated to other factors yet to be discovered. Considering how many of these trucks are on the road and no clear information about how many really have problems as we only hear about them from owner who frequent the internet to solve the issues, seems like a small percentage of the sum total. Obviously, a large enough percentage to get Dodge to pay attention and make changes because it is truly a safety issue and may well be a design flaw.

Dodge put the heavier front end parts on the mid-2008's, anyone with a truck manufactured prior to that could easily experience DW, stock tires, aftermarket tires, will make no difference as to who could have the problem.
