For the first time since I bought my Quad box, I got to take a long highway trip yesterday. So it was an opportunity for me to do some pure MPG testing. I did 404 miles all being at 67-70 using Cruise Control. I filled up that morning at a gas station, and did the trip on the same tank of gas. On coming home, I stopped at the same exact station and re-filled back up. Did 404 miles and pulled out a 20.23 MPG. This was with the Quad Box on 60hp.

I need to do some more testing, but this is slightly worse than my last pure highway test when I was stock and got roughly 21.5 for 210 mile trip. With the restrictive exhausts and cat, I find it very difficult to believe that these trucks are capable of anything more than 23 mpg.

I would also agree on the bs call. The best my 305/555 with the quad box on 60 has gotten on a similar trip (68-70mph) was 23.2 hand calc, with the quad on 60. and I got 22.4 or so on the way back stock. Using just a few runs like this isn't a great method of determining mpg, or gain, but rather the average over several trips like this. Too many factors like air quality, wind, and fuel quality affect mpg, so I wouldn't worry too much bbdodge.

Pretty much anyone with a 3rd gen claiming anything over 25 just makes me laugh. I know a 2wd 6spd can get better mileage than my setup, but not much. 35mpg? Please.

I thank God that my overhead reads low. Usually 1-2mpg but upwards of 3mpg if it's all highway driving. My last 2 tanks have gotten me 18.7 and 19.5 respectively. This is a 50-50 combination of suburban empty and suburban towing. Usually never get over 55mph.

I am loving it. I haven't checked back into either of those posts, but apparently me throwing up the BS flag really tripped a few of them up. LOL. I guess I have 'some nerve' coming in there and posting a contrary opinion!

Oh wow guys. Apparently 'stirring the pot' is a horrible offense and they just BANNED ME from dieselram! The guy sends me a PM telling me that there's a new "sheriff in town" at dieselram, and that he will not have me coming there and stirring up the pot and bragging about it on DTR!!!!
Will the madness ever end? All I did was point out that the guy claiming 31 mpg with a toyhauler full of quads was pretty much full of bs, and apparently they all believe him. The funny thing is the guy comes off trying to sound all tough blah blah blah sheriff of a website I'm so impressed, and then bans me so I can't even reply!

Earlier in the above thread on dieselram, someone said I was new to the forum, and how dare I stir up the pot with a contrary opinion? I said that I'd been a member there since may 03, but never really frequent or post there because at least at the time, DTR and TDR were far better forums. I have a feeling that comment is what really set him off and made him ban me. Either that, or he is a total moron and believes that 31mpg claim. Even so, all I did was post my opinion, that I think it's impossible.

I'M BANNED! Oh well, this thread and this claim was pretty much the only reason I went over there in the first place, so I won't really miss it much. I think I have less than 10 posts. I still find it funny and ridiculous all the same. Long live dtr and tdr!

Freedom of speech huh ?? Kind of reminds me of the blue oval boys .............no matter how many probs that powerjoke has they defend it till the end ............ then buy another !! I would be a bit defensive if I paid 48,000 clams for a truck with an " experimental disaster " under the hood and resale going south fast as everyone trades them off . I salute you for having the stones to disagree with the " JEDI MASTER " of Cummins engines !
