3" coil spring install

If I just disconnect the tie rod ends and sway bar end links can I install 3" taller coil springs without taking the trackbar loose? How about the control arms?

I'll be installing kore 3" springs and 2.5 kings in a couple weeks hopefully and need to know what to get ready for..

Thanks

Pull the tracbar. It makes the job so much easier. Piece of cake to put back on with a helper turning the steering wheel. Watch those brake lines when lowering the axle.

Oh yeah, no need to pop the tie-rods or control arms.

remove shocks
unbolt swaybar
lower front axle
factory bottle jack between upper control arm and frame and push down on axle.
(like others said watch your brake lines while doing this)

at least thats the way I did it the second, third, fourth time. first truck i ever did this to i followed the instructions unhooked half the front suspension and it took 3 hours and was a pain to get all the bolt lined back up(the front axle is heavy and yer not going to move it easily). second time im improvised and it took lest than an hour. just my .02

ive done this several times also, all i do is put some jackstands right behind the control arms on the frame. drop the axle. Remove the front shocks, Disconnect the sway bar endlinks and trackbar...ive aleays found it much easier to use tiedown straps to compress the coils.

and with a 3" lift you may wish to consider replacing it with a an adjustable trackbar so you can re-center the axle...

You may also want to get either longer links or use a 3in sway bar drop bracket as well. And depending on what size tires you plan on running, your axle is now going to be farther to the rear of the truck, you may want some axle forward control arms.

Thanks again guys

I've got it covered I think...

I just put the 8.5+ steering on....
I've got the steering gearbox stabilizer on also...
I've got a Carli lower steering stabilizer on...

I'm purchasing a set of 3" Kore coils, Thuren sway bar end links, mini deavers and 2.5 Kings front and rear with Thuren towers from someone upgrading to a three inch bypass shock system with full leafs -- He's waiting on his system before he can send mine to me.. Should be 2-3 weeks..

I'm going to get an adjustable trackbar probably Carli??, still not decided on witch one yet.

I'll be running 286/70/17" Hankook RF10's.. Once I get them out of lawaway

My axle U's and balljoints felt good last week when I put the 8.5+ steering on so hopefully I'll have a front end that will perform for awhile..
