2500 vs 3500 SRW
Re:2500 vs 3500 SRW
All the above wise cracks and comments are correct (sort of) ;D.
It is the springs with the helper that make the difference between the two other than the cab lights and numbers on the side. ;D
Yes this gives you a higher payload capacity with the SRW 3500 than the 2500.
Hopefully it is only obvious that the payload of the Duallie has a higher payload cap due to the added springs and that extra set of tires ;D ;D

Re:2500 vs 3500 SRW
If you register the truck under 10,000 gvw you don't have to pay the higher taxes.
My dealer was nice enough to do that for me without me even asking. I had done the same thing with my 98 dually. You also don't have to run truck tags(in Virginia).

Re:2500 vs 3500 SRW
I'm not sure about Dale City Va area, but in Arlington Va, the dually with it's GVW greater than 7501# doesn't qualify for the 70% deduction on the personal property taxes.
They don't care how it's tagged.
That costs me around $500 a year in additional tax payments.

Re:2500 vs 3500 SRW
Thanks a bunch for the research on the 2500 vs. SRW 3500 load capacity question! I have one of the 3 ring binders that the salesmen use for info on the trucks and could not find any differance. You guys are just GOOD, what can I say.
Re:2500 vs 3500 SRW
I guess it is 7501 Ed. I just checked my registration.
EW 7206lb - GW 7500lb
GVWR 10000lb. When I had my dually the nit wit at the dealership registered it with a GW of 4500lb or something like that.
Either way, No extra taxes ;D

Re:2500 vs 3500 SRW
My registration is the same way, however Arlington goes by VIN # and manufacturer's listed GVW.
Gosh knows they would'nt want to miss a penny of possible tax revenue. :

Re:2500 vs 3500 SRW
I'm in the same boat, Ed.
Got my tax bill the other day. I was expecting something around $400 or so. Got hit with $1200. :'( :'( That hurt and I had to grunt real hard to come up with it. The city wants every penny they can get.
May be about time to move out with DD4X4.

The 3500 has "3500" emblems on the driver and passenger door.
The 2500 has "2500" emblems on the driver and passenger door.
;D
I really don't know the difference. i just wanted a 3500 SRW since they were available.....

Really it's just the 2 and the 3 that are different.
;D
