2500 IS KILLIN' ME

My 2003 2500 rides like a hay wagon. No joke!!! Are all 2500 Dodges this bad? I've only got 8000 on it , thought it might get a little better, but no. If I'm drinking a soda down a highway, the soda will bounce out all over me and I'm not talking about a rough road. Is ther something I could put on the chassis or something to smooth things out? Thanks for any help..Dave

Go to Kedermanairride.com they have super air ride system.
I built a system for my 93 1 ton, based on their's. The truck rides almost as soft as a 1/2 ton. My wife is large chested and it made her happy .

dansdad,

I don't know what to tell you. I run down the road 30-70mph and do not have a cover on the 32oz cup with it setting in the cup holder. I get no vibration or bounce. The ride is smooth and no spills. You might have the dealer check it out.

Re:2500 IS KILLIN' ME

Shocks made a big deal on my truck, more than any other I owned. Had a rough ride until I dumped the stock shocks and went with Ranchos. Better, but three of the four Ranchos wore out in 10K miles. It was the dirt roads and the heavy engine. Have had much better luck with KYB Monomax's. (Except for that pink/orange color. :P ) Now I've got Skyjacker shock brackets and I'm running quad KYB's up front. Beautiful.

Ramguy, Dodgeman01, I think you've hit on a very good field test for shock absorbers.

You've got a 3500. They don't ride as rough as the 2500.

Yeah, my 2500 rides the same way. I'm use to it though, my last truck was the Dakota R/T..

Re:2500 IS KILLIN' ME

My 2500 is very smooth. It's a 4x4 and I carry about 800-1000 pounds (not counting myself which adds another 250)
Maybe I'm too brain dead from this business to notice.

Yeah my 2500 is pretty rough over bumps. I've found that airing down the tires a bit or carrying a load in the bed makes it significantly better. I'm waiting for Bilstein to make some shocks so I can replace the stockers. The factory shocks look like junk.

Trying to find a solution to my ride also! Very nice on asphalt highways but on many of the cement freeways, very severe bounce! Shakes everything. If I slow to 50mph, it doesn't beat it to death. I haven't tried above 80 yet... I believe it has to do with the wheel base & the spacings in the cement. It is a 1999 Quad-Cab, 4x4, 2500, 6 speed. Has anyone found a way to make it tolerable with these road condidions?
Guess I better fill out my signiture!

put weight in the bed...when i have a load in the bed or on a trailer...it smoothes my ride out like a car...

take hoss' idea and pour a few inches of concrete in there so you still have a flat floor...but there is weight in there too

A friend said that a coworker talked for months about the new truck that he was going to get, a big Ford crew cab. A few weeks after the guy got it he asked him how he liked it, and the guy said that he got rid of it. When he asked why, the guy said that it rode kind of like a truck :^)
