2500 conversion

I would like to convert my 2500 dodge into a 3500. What changes would I have to make to the truck to make it a real 1 ton? Hopefully someone knows what the differences are. Thanks

I think the only real difference between the two is the extra helper spring in the back nad the 4.10 ratio in the rear end. Not to much different between the two.

The rear springs and badges. You could add clearance lights on the cab as well.

I was going to add factory overloads (I got 'em from Pauly) but the factory set-up has the spring contact perch welded to the frame on the 3500s. So, Hellwig overloads are the best bet for ease of installation.

I got clearance lights and a 4.10 rear. So all I need to due is add an extra rear spring and perch along with badges. Is that right?

Hey Mr. Davis, just add a set of air bags which you can add air to as the weight increases and you get to keep your softer ride when unloaded. Probably cheaper or the same amount as adding overload springs and you have adjustability with bags.

If you are doing it for legal load limit reasons you'll have to get it re-rated somehow. If you just want heavier rear springs (which is the real difference between the two) you can just get a set of overloads and, presto, instant one ton.

Forget the badges and the clearance lights. They do nothing for load carrying capacity. Oops, do you want a dually? Now that's a different story.
