2009 Ram's RamBox

What do you guys think of the RamBoxes on the 2009 Rams?

Info here: http://www.dodge.com/en/2009/ram_1500/storage/exterior/

Like em? Good idea? I love think they're great - They hold 120 "sodas", plus ice!

I like the innovation of the Ram Box and other features.

But I just can't get used to the styling yet. Maybe I would feel different about it seeing it as 2500/3500 4x4 longbed.

I don't like it for 2 reasons -

1. On the 1500 it is an $1800 option
2. I can't run a crossover box, ladder rack or topper with it. Well, I could but I couldn't open the ramboxes.

Those are my personal reasons for not wanting the rambox setup. I think they are a great idea otherwise, just wouldn't work for me. I guess I am stuck with my cooler for "sodas".

Good idea but the fender clip will look pretty rank after a few years if it's a work truck.

I don't care about truck "styling" if it's durable but the 1500 festooned with oversized badges, chrome and that frowning grill is pretty sorry in my opinion.

Certainly hope the heavy duties don't look like that.

I saw one of those commercials again right before I turned the TV off last night. While falling asleep I got to thinking about it, and came to the conclusion I absolutely would NOT want one. You can't use it with a tonneau cover, bed cap, fifth wheel, tool boxes, etc... It's a neat option for storage if you use NOTHING else in the bed of your truck. Props to the new idea though!!

They look 'wide' is the bed still 4 feet wide with them?

Yes, the bed is still 4ft wide, all they did was take the space from where the wheel wells protruded into the bed and put a lockable box in there. The bed is similar in size to a step side bed. Trust me, ARE, Jason, or some other tonneau maker will have a cover that fits between the rails instead of over them, so you can still access the RamBox, but you have a cover for the bed. A soft cover would be easy. In fact, I'll bet Mopar makes something to cover it within the year.

I was thinking the navigator should make the crawl, or a well trained primate name Clyde!

I love it. I hate having my toolbox in the back. Takes up too much front to rear haul space. Plus with me being only 5'8" it is hard to get into the toolbox. With the RamBox being more on the side of the bed, it would be easier.

If the 2500s had the look of the new Rams as well as the RamBox, I would trade mine in today. I can't wait myself until the new HDs come out. I've heard though that they will look different from the 1/2 ton the same way Ford makes theirs look different. Time will tell.

But I put in a That a Boy! to Dodge for the Ram Box.

The '09 Ram is the perfect tailgate truck, in my opinion. Room for 240 beers and sodas, PLUS ice, and the RamBoxes are drainable? Makes for a perfect truck to have on a Saturday/Sunday morning before a big football game.
