Update:

Some progress - I called the CSX 800 number this morning, to see if my railcar had moved from Greenwood (Dixiana Yard, near Columbia) where it arrived last Wednesday.

Well, it arrived in Case, SC (wherever that is) last night, 8 pm. So, while it is moving, it is STILL in South Carolina (5 days now). At this rate, who knows how long until it gets here.

On edit - I did a USPS Zip code search - Cayce (proper spelling) SHARES a zip code with Dixiana, SC, where the truck arrived last Wednesday. It's barely moved. Looking on Mapquest, which actually shows the CSX line, it basically moved about 4-5 miles north on the track. In 4 days. That's a mile a day. Good grief.

I just searched for Case, SC and that town doesn't come up. So appropriate....

UPDATE: All the trucks that went on the boat leaving 3/2 from my dealer is now 'in bay at facility' at the port of Baltimore.

At least something is happening, and a boat arrived!!! Good news! I wonder if my ride is on it!

You can track your vehicle on Mexican rail if you have a RR car number. Below is site address:

http://www.etfm.com.mx/localizacion_...ult.asp?lang=1

It appears that my rail car is traveling back and forth in the area of Mexico City. Yesterday it was heading south towards Vera Cruz and today it is traveling north and is currently in Escobedo (north of Mex City). The kicker is that the final destination is Nuevo Laredo which is next to Laredo, TX and not Vera Cruz. It appears that my truck is going via rail instead of ship to NJ.

BTW: I ordered on 2/9 and truck was built 2/26. Scheduled delivery according to Insight is 3/20 in Baltimore and 3/29 at dealer.

Where did you get this information? Insight?

Well, this is interesting. I checked Insight for my dealer's trucks, at it does appear that about 5 are now "at ramp" in the port, with today's date.

I checked MY truck, and now Insight date has:

3/15/04 - Loaded on vessels Vera Cruz!

That's funny, considering it's on a railcar in South Carolina. What DOES get me is that some trucks that wer KZ AFTER me are now here! Meanwhile, I still wait.

On edit: I just had another thought. How could my VIN be scanned into the system as loaded today? Is it possible it was SUPPOSED to be on that railcar, but didn't get put on, and has been sitting in a holding lot all this time in Vera Cruz. Someone notices, said "oops" and scanned it on. If that's true then I have another month to go. Looks like I may have to reregister the Ford after all.

Okay....My truck went from "loaded on Railcar 3-03" to today where it says: Vehicle Loaded on Vessel 3-15-04 port of Vera Cruz, VL"....Please don't tell me that my truck (ordered 1/10) is just now getting on the slow boat to NJ??? Cause if that is the case I am getting very pi$$ed right now...My happy dealer called and left a message that it should be here "around the 29th of March" Insight shows it should be arriving in NJ on 3-15-04...How can a truck be loaded on a boat in Vera Cruz and be in the Port of NJ on the same day??? .........

That's what has happened to mine. For a couple weeks now, Insight has only shown "railcar loaded" on 2/27/04. I found out from my sales person last Thursday a railcar number.

Now, today, a ship does come into Baltimore. Now, like you, mine also says "loaded" Vera Cruz, 3/15. At first I thought, maybe the ENTIRE railcar is loaded on the ship, but that CAN'T be right, as right now, my railcar number arrived in Cayce, SC, on the CSX line yesterday.

So, who knows? Just when I think I have it figured out, the mystery deepens. As I said above, HOW could my VIN today start showing as loaded, UNLESS it never made it onto the railcar I have been tracking, and has been sitting in the lot in Vera Cruz, and just today got loaded?

I HOPE I am wrong, and it is on a train that will be here in the next week or so. Does ANYBODY on this forum know ANYONE at DC who knows SOMEBODY at DC who can explain this WHACKED OUT shipping "system" to us?

On Edit: Just saw a commercial ( on NBC, while watching Fear Factor) about "Dodge Truck Month" advertising to get to your dealer to get a new Cummins 600 Turbo Diesel". None on the lots to get around here.

Okay. I checked Insight this morning. Same info as yesterday. Just checked it again -8:49pm Monday. It now says in bay at facility, port of baltimore. Th estimated delivery date is still 3/29, two weeks from today. My dealer is only 15 minutes away from Dundalk (Port of baltimore) Interestingly enough, my salesman said they couldn't pick it up, It must be delivered by the carrier, due to union regulations, he told me this a month ago when he thought it was at the port of balto (2/2). If it rains tomorrow, I don't have to work, so I will check the status and update everyone. If the weather is nice here though, I will have to work 12-14 hours, and probably won't even get time to call dealer. Wish me luck.

Yep, but you probably already know that.

I really don't have an update, except for the fact that I just sold my current ride (Jetta) and have no car! Going to borrow one. Do you know how difficult it is to ask to borrow a car from someone and you can't tell them how long you need it????

So, this truck better come in quick or I'm in big trouble!!!!!!! As for Insighte, dates incremented by one. At least you guys have something to be happy about. Good Luck!

I ordered on 2/4, (6 weeks Wednesday) and still don't have a VIN. I think I'm still in BG status. I'm thinking that my dealer doesn't have allocation. I'm losing confidence in DC because they can't deliver a truck in a reasonable amount of time. How do they stay in business?

Maybe I'll cancel my order and keep the old Ford. I just got back from Tahoe and it performed flawlessly and got 18.4 MPG.
