2003 2500 4x4 85k miles?Buy or not?

I am looking at several trucks actually. They are ranging from 60-85k miles. They all have 6 speeds and seem to all be nice. My question is I have a 2001 and looking to move into a 2003, has anyone noticed any differences they don't like? Obviously the guys who had 2nd gen could only answer this but I am wanting to buy in a couple of weeks. I love the 2nd gen rams, but I want to move to the new body style and a 6 speed. The big thing is all these electronics and computers and crap is what bothers me. I am pretty sure most guys are pleased just wanting some opionions. Thanks guys and God Bless. Aaron

I prefer the new(er) body, but everyones taste is different I suppose. The 2nd Gens aren't "old" looking by any means, but one more significant body style/line change and they will be. Actually I still like the look of a 1st Gen properly outfitted, so I guess do what seems right??
Is there any substaintial change in the trans in the '03+'s? That might sway me too if I were looking at an auto.? Good Luck, they are all pretty cool when it comes down to it.

Same here. I can't think of a single thing I prefer in my old truck over the new one. The new one is better in every way in my book. It's more comfortable, quieter (a good think in my book), more roomy and better looking. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved my 98.5 and thought it was a great truck. I just think the 03 is that much better.

Thumbs up

I agree with the rest. Moved up to a 2005 from a 2001. Would not go back. I love everything about this truck!!

If the trucks is priced right, and haven't been hammered or bombed, I say go for it.

Guys I appreciate the comments. The truck is a 2500 long bed. I am not a huge fan of the long bed but went to the dealer and the long bed is like 1 1/2 foot longer. That is not too terribly bad. The biggest thing is the price. At $22,500 for an 03 that is clean, I don't want to pass up the deal. It is a small dealership and becuase of the miles they have it lower. 86k miles is really nothing to me becuase my truck has 175k now and runs great. Thanks alot guys and have a great day each and everyone. God Bless. Aaron
