J Body,

I thought that was an 03 only problem. Have you repaired any 04, 04.5, or 05 trucks with the same problem? Hate to hear any 06's have an issue with it.

It's hard to believe that DC hasn't fixed this issue yet.
Guess I'll keep turning down the blower when switching the blending doors.

So turning down the blower when going from fresh to recirc stops the door from getting broken?

If so I'll be doing that from now on, I've been living on the edge and didn't know it!

LOL, We did hundreds of A/C doors (mostly blend doors on Y bodies) back in the early '90's.

Must be the same supplier.

I replaced my Recirc door in December. It took all day and $30 for the door ($40 retail, don't know why I got a discount). The door lasted 3-4 months and broke again.

The second repair took a little over 2 min and zero dollars. I just took out the glove box and reached into the unit, where I had previously removed the grill, and pulled the broken door out. Replaced the glove box and I was done with it.

I hadn't had any issues with it since. I suppose I could go purchase another door and do the job in less than a day, but I don't see the need yet.

That's my theory. Air pressure from the blower being on high is putting stress on the actuator doors when being switched.
So far no issues with my doors.

My theory is a bit different and is electronic in nature. These doors are controlled by the heater-A/C module which is supposed to learn each 'closed' position and use that to stop the motor in the right position. I think the module is defective in that it attempts to force the door past being closed and thus breaking the door at the female connection where it mates with the motor.

At least for the recirc door, the fan speed would have no effect on the door as it is on the suction side of the fan and the pivot point is away from the fan. The sound of the door SLAMMING shut is caused by the door motor causing it to slam shut. The motor moves too fast and trys to move the door too far.

Angry 06 Recirculation Doors

Hi guys.
I just had my door break today at 12:30pm arizona time. It'd now at the
dealer for warranty repairs. All I did was turn on the blower to low and
pushed the a/c button and heard a loud bang and then the air was coming out of every vent in the dash.
