05 3500 5.9 electrical issues
Hey guys I need some HELP (please bare with me as this is long and the main question is at the end of all this). I have a 2005 3500 4x4 5.9 dually quad cab. I just bought the truck in November. I haul a gn horse trailer. About 3 weeks ago I was coming home from a show and noticed my trailer marker lights were not working. My break lights and turn signals were all that was working. So I took my truck to the shop that installed my gn hitch to have them check the 7 way plug in the bed. (Note this plug had already been installed by previous owner) after checking it they decided it was the ground wire not having a good connection. So they took a screw and attached the ground wire to the frame and then everything started working. Well this past Saturday my trailer lights didn't want to work again, so I crawled under the truck, wiggled the ground wire and then they started working. I had and 8 hour round trip haul Saturday and on my way home my left signal on trailer stopped working. By the time I got back home NONE of my lights worked. So I have an appointment on April 27 (tomorrow) to have the 7 way removed and a new one installed. Bc who ever installed this one did a crappy job and not only did they leave wires hanging unprotected but also added a 4 way plug under the bumper from the other wires!! (Who does that kind of crap?) So anyways, I thought I had my problem solved as far as my trailer lights. Unfortunately something new has raised, the front left signal on truck is now not working properly, it works sometimes and sometimes it don't, the lamp out light comes off and on, the windshield washer pump is not working, and my wipers are acting strange. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on with this truck? Any recalls on this one that I'm not aware of?
Sorry I can't help on the lighting issue, but for recalls, go to this site and have your VIN handy. Safety Recall Information | MOPAR

I'd check out the Multi-function switch. It was a big enough problem on the 06's they extended the warranty on them. I'm not sure if the 05's used the same because I have an 06 obviously.
When mine failed my hazards would come on by themselves, my left blinker when I called for the right blinker all kinds of weird lighting issues. I vaguely recall some had wiper issues along with lighting issues when theirs were failing.

I have heard of that and am considering that. Just working my way up to that. Was going to change the bulb today but we could not get the headlight assembly out! Got all 23 screws out and it would wiggle like it was ready to come out but we couldn't get it out. Sad to think I'm going to have to pay someone to change a bulb!

Lol wow I just saw I put 23 screws lol. I meant 3. We removed those 3 and still it wouldn't come out. It wiggled but no matter how hard we pulled it wouldn't release
Wonder if the dodge dealership would know? I figure they should be here lately I've noticed it's a bunch of kids that work there. They may not have a clue
Ccrotzer,
The headlights have one or more friction type connectors holding them on. You need to get your fingers behind the assembly and give it a pretty good yank straight forward to free it from the fitting(s). It can be a bit unnerving, but it works.
Good luck getting your issue resolved.
