test drove 08 6.7

Went to the dealer with my friend today. He is dying to get rid of his lil Colorado and into a Cummins. So we're looking over this 08 4x4 Dually, in some kind of metallic black.(beautiful color). The salesman comes out and starts spouting off a bunch of BS. Asked him if he had any 6spd manuals. Then he kept referring to them as ratchet shifts??? Anywhoo, this guy says Ill see if I can find one in the system, hands us the keys and walks away! LOL! This guy didnt get our names, ID, nothing! So we take her for a drive, You can barely turn that thing without going sideways! No tirespin on takeoff (unless you spool the turbo!)but turning you cant barely touch the throttle. That was pretty hairy, A dealer lot truck sideways pulling onto the highway. I can say its just as unnerving the third time as it is the first! Ha!
Needless to say my buddy is hooked! To go from a lil Colorado to a 3500 DRW would be good for him, but they werent willing to deal, so he's still dreaming for now. As for me, Im still plenty pleased with my 5.9/6spd.

from a colorado to a dually? does he have a need for it, or just thinks they are cool?

i think the color your talking about is brilliant black crystal...thats what i have and im not to fond of it. very hard to keep clean. i wish i had gotten inferno red.

when i test drove one, i must have gotten a bad one, it just didnt seems that powerful to me!

The sheer excelleration wasnt so impressive, but when you turned, the back end was like hot butter, even under mild throttle it would break loose and go sideways. He will have a need for it soon, as he needs a welding truck. Probably looking for a C/C.

Factory bed installed, Thats just it, the straight line full throttle excelleration wasnt overly impressive. Quick, but would not brake the tires loose without powerbraking. For some reason when you turned the tires would not hold and you were sideways quick! I dunno if it was the General tires on it or the light rearend, or both, but turning could be downright scary if you werent prepared for it. Also those General tires it was shod with felt really soft, which makes it even more odd, because I thought a softer tire would hook better. Maybe when turning as the weight shifts to one side the torque overcomes traction the one side breaks loose and having a tight limited slip caused the other side to break traction as well? Ive got no clue.
