South Bend clutch thoughts & question

Thought I'd pass on my observation of the G56 OK version. It's somewhat "grabby" but I'm hoping it will break in a bit. Was advised to go with the OK for engagement. Less grabby when towing.

As for holding ability I'm somewhat less impressed. It's rated at 375/800 at the wheels and my truck is stock except for a superchips programmer. It will not hold on the Tow-Haul setting. That's with out a trailer or weight Slips at 2k RPM. Bummer.

I waiting for the truck to hit 100k and then it's delets with a smarty.

But now I'm wondering if I should have gone with the OKEF clutch...???

well your truck stock should be close to 300 550 stock, the superchip is adding between 60 and 115 hp depending on the tune, so you are on the edge of the rating for the clutch, my sb sdd3250 is loud (unengaged) but wont slip under load

You most definitely should have went with the OKEF clutch. I am in the same situation with my truck (19000 miles and same tranny, dual mass FW and factory clutch as yours BTW). I have been doing loads of research, searching and for my truck in signature and occasionally towing 12000#, a South Bend G56 OKEF has been recommended to me numerous times. That is the setup I am going to go with real shortly

how many miles do you have on it so far? Once it's broken in and bedded properly it should hold more than rated. if you still have issues, call Southbend. They were fantastic when I bought mine years ago.
