Smarty Jr Question
Thank you XCC_Rider for your help solving this issue , it sure makes it great when there are people like you who take the time to help others ... Again thanks to all who have helped. Brett

Thought I would update this post to help others
I had to update my smarty to the EPA compliant tunes and also needed a PC based computer to do it so I picked up a used laptop and downloaded the software and installed it to the smarty jr .
I have been using the truck for over a week now with no issues thanks again...

Are you still stock or did you delete already?
If stock is it the DRS01L tune. If not then try loading that tune.
Sounds like this is a code for a C&C or sprinter, not one of our style trucks.
For a C&C or Sprinter the causes are listed as a plugged egr cooler, plugged or sticking egr valve.

Drive a while with the stock tune. If the code comes back in then its not tune related. Reload the smarty tune and see if it come back. If not then it was just an anomaly, if so then its most likely tune related and you need to give mads a call.
How many miles do you have on the truck. There's a 67,500 egr system cleaning and ccv filter replacement due at that mileage. If you're past it then its possible the egr cooler is fouled and/or the egr valve is sticking or stricted causing the code.
Geno's has a cleaning kit with the ccv filter for something like $130 and comes with the instructions to do so. A lot cheaper than dodges $450(?) to do the service.

Mileage is 86,000 Kms 53000 miles so I will keep that in mind about the service and get the kit from Gino's garage.
Second day driving around 30 miles and no engine light , so hope and wait, thanks for helping me , I really appreciate you help on this , great feed back on things to look at.

Tune related, Hmmmm, interesting!
I re read the entire topic again and saw where you asked if the code could be weather related.
I want to say yes, if you're in an extremely cold area but I really don't know since I don't have experience with the compliant tunes. Cold weather and egr temperature seems to go together but im lost on this one. Plus youre not getting the code now so i think youre right.
Usually in cold climates you'll get a cooling system/thermostat rationalization code and I haven't heard of this one coming in.
If you would, please join the smartyresource.net forum and post a question re the code, the epa tune you had loaded and your finding that it looks tune related. Include a link to this topic for them to read for more background. Brian from smarty will reply and may be able to give you more info and perhaps send you an older epa tune to try instead of the DRS01L tune. (Someimes new tunes have kinks in them and they need to know about them to get them ironed out).
thx, dan

Have you tried reloading the L tune yet? It would be interesting to see if the codes come back with it loaded.
If they do then return it to stock and try the older tune on the page below. Its the BR24S epa tune. You'll need to download it and unzip it using 7zip before loading on the tuner.

Let us know what happens.

Blacky this may be to late or an old post, you can run a tuner without deletes, but it will regen more as you will produce more soot running tunes.
