Programmers Edge vs Smarty and why

What makes the smarty the better programmer vs the edge. Or is it not? I'm happy with my edge juice with attitude on my 99. New truck new game. Lookin for advise and I thank you!

I'm not an expert, but I think the edge just modifies signals and such to the computer and has some issue with CELS for these emmisions trucks. With the Smarty, this is a reprogram that takes care of everything and allows you to delete/disable the emissions junk we don't want.

I highly suggest the Smarty and deletes for these trucks. There are other programmers too which are just as fine. Edge is not a programmer.

The Edge Juice (with or without Attitude) is an add on ECM (engine control module). The Smarty is a true programmer.

The EJA will intercept and modify the vehicles basic programming to add its own control.

The Smarty is a programmer which downloads an entire new program (flash) that runs the vehicle.

I have had both, I have ran both, at the same time for a while. The EJA runs hotter (EGT wise) and rougher. It caused tranny shudder on the 4-5 and 5-6 upshift.

The Smarty is smoother, runs cooler, and does not cause tranny shudder (on my truck anyway, results may vary).

Performance wise, the Smarty is superior.

I am not saying the Edge is a bad product, in fact, I did like it, and would run it again (if MADS disappeared that is) One thing that I loved about EJA was the shift on the fly. If Marco could make some type of Stand Alone box that let you work the POD seperate from the Smarty itself, MADS would be programming perfection.

H&S does have a system like that in place, and most reports are its an excellent setup, just as good as the Smarty. I would love to run one, just to see.

Im just a Smarty fan.

Choose wisely.

Yeah, I would love to have a stand alone for the pod function.

One of my good friends had an edge on his truck, then I got him a smarty... he said the smarty on 1 was better than the edge on 5. I had an edge first, then a smarty, the way that the power comes on is like a pee wee football player compared to a NFL pro. Day and night.

If you want a little power and some gauges, go with an edge.

If you want the real deal, go with the smarty.

It's funny how things vary from one truck to another! I just can't tell a heckuva lot of dfference from the eja to the smarty on my truck.... but, like others, I think Mads would really corner the market if they did a control pod of some sort.

For the record, I love my Smarty. No CEL's and ABSOLUTELY no issues since I installed it 6 weeks ago.

Just looking for continuous improvement as perfection is infinite and one just keeps getting closer and closer. Maybe we could get a touch screen too? I'm happy as I need to be for sure.
