I started my truck with the valet key or the grey key that came with my truck.. it ran fine but i got a see dealer perform service reading on the overhead indicator otherwise known as the( lie-o-meter)..and also the exhaust brake wouldn't work but the light was on... anyway message did not go away so i plugged in the smarty picked up a code that said invalid skim key..so i erased the code...& its all good. exhaust brake works..message is gone..thank you smarty jr...anyone ever get that??

 

It happens from time to time if you use a key that hasent been properly programmed (invalid sentry key)

 

we see all the time where people go into a store (home depot for example) and place their keys on the counter next to the demagnatizing chingus and it whipes the memory out of the key and we have to reprogram.

just keep in the back of your minds when placing keys on a counter at a store.
