Baffled

Ok fellas, Im a bit stumped at this one.

Sold a fella Im working with the Edge off of my truck. He has an '08 3500. He was looking for milage gains a not power gains so wanted minimal work. He installed the Edge and got a DPF pipe with bungs from the DTR store. Installed everything and this is where the confusion starts.

The downpipe is still in place. EGR system still in place and plugged in. Only thing that was removed was the DPR and NOX filter. The forward O2 sensor was left in the stock DP. The forward temp sensor was left in the DP.

The rearward O2 sensor was installed in the delete pipe. Both rearward temp sensors were left in the stock pipe and removed from the truck. DPF pressure sensor was left plugged in and the rubber hose "looped" back to itself. Three EGT sims (H&S) brand were installed. EJA set to clear any codes on startup.

This is the same exact setup (pre Smarty) that was on my truck, with the exception of the DP.
This is where the problem comes in. He keeps getting two CELS about 30 seconds after startup.

P-200c-Diesel Particulate Filter Over Temperature-Bank 1

and

P-200e-Catalyst System Over Temperature-Bank 1

Figured it was trouble with the sims. Switched em around and same thing. Pulled em and ohmed em out, thinking one (or all) may be wrong/defective, they read two at 109ohms and one at 110 ohms.

Tried leaving them off, with the three temp sensors plugs open ended. NO CHECK engine light. Ran it for a few miles, no check engine light.

Plug the sims back in, same codes.

I was always under the assumption that the sims were needed for operation or the truck would fly into limp mode. Hes basically running a straight pipe with no fooling.

What the heck is going on here.

Think I may have answered my own question. Been digging and found on the H&S website that their sims will cause a CEL....

Just wondering why it aint going into limp mode without the sims.

I'll take a stab for ya.... Did you have to update the EJA by computer? Maybe they added some software to eliminate the SIMs. Especially since there was another box running deletes without SIMs (SMARTY) DK but happy to maybe give you another direction of thought.

Thanks Chris

Nah, never did anything to the Edge. Just pulled it from my truck and put in on his.

Anyway, was able to find the original sims at home, gonna get them mailed to him. He will just have to live with the CEL till he gets them.
