Your thoughts on my upgrades

First off, hello to everyone. This is my first post and I just purchased my first dodge: an '05 2500 4x4 Laramie, bone stock. I will be doing my first round of improvements soon. I am aiming primarily at gaining in mpg but hp and a different exhaust tone are nice two. Here is what I am planning so far:

Aero 5050xl
Quadzilla max mileage
True Flow XDI
maybe a CFM intake manifold if I can convince the wife

What do you think?

GUAGES!!! Looks good so far. Do the supporting mods first.

Welcome to the DTR!

What direction are you looking to go with your truck?

Isnt this the way we all started? Next thing you will have 600HP and be 10k lighter in the wallet. Personally I would skip the CFM and use that cash for gauges. At least pyro and boost. Fuel pressure is nice as well.

Welcome,
Is the truck an auto or stick?
Also, if you do an intake manifold, you might re-consider the CFM for one of the following.

yea i missed the gauges not being in your sig, but in my eyes i noticed a big difference with the cfm, plus i heard a lot of bad about running water/meth with a metal intake well not a lot just that they rust out and i dont want to risk rust going though my engine! one thing i dont like about the cfm theirs only 3 holes for gauges and injectables. that is if you plan on ever running water/meth

Hmmmm... intake horns, powerflow intake manifold. I can actually hear my wallet getting thinner (but my truck is getting better right!). I definitely will do gauges next, but maybe now swap those for the CFM. I have an auto so I know something will soon follow (read: fall off) for that department.

I am completely uneducated when it comes to water/meth, so that might be in round three.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Add the steering box bearing brace. I don't know what the exact name is but I know somebody will help out.

Carli levelling kit. 33" rubber, calibrate speedo, Aftermarket lift pump, Better lighting, Gauges, Pac Brake, Air intake system.

Then shovel a bunch of cash into your transmission before you start putting the juice to your engine or you'll be backing a dump truck full of cash to the transmission shop after it goes south.

Well that's what I would do.

CFM probably wouldn't be a good idea with water/meth. There have been at least 3 I know of that were blown apart into pieces. IIRC, it wasn't at very high boost either. It is composite but, it is plastic. I think it's a great intake... just not for a truck with lots of power

I would agree to not bother with a intake and put the money elsewhere.

Mods

IMO, your Aero is/was a waste of $$$. Don't feel bad,.. many others bit,.. including your truly. Also the 50/50 I believe indicates it is a 5" piece,..right? It's been dyno proven many times that you only need 5" above 500hp/550hp.

Next I'd get the gauges as others suggested. Keep in mind many of the boxes have monitors that include the gauges.

why was the Aero a waste ? I've had a 4040XL for well over a year now and it's done very well. I had a MBRP before that and IMO, the Aero, sounds better with less drone. I don't think a 5" exhaust is even necessary until after 1000hp if even then. I don't know if 5" downpipes are even made, most are 3.5 or 4" so how would it benefit to go 5" from there ?
