Yet another Gauge Question
Got a friend that wants to put gauges in his truck.
Its a stock 05 with NO alterations at all and running an auto tranny.
Would a 30# boost gauge be ok or should he put a 40# in?
There are no plans for engine enhancements.
Thanks.

If he for sure will not install any power adders or a boost fooler in the future a 40 psi will be sufficient. I definately wouldn't get the 30 psi because even stock some trucks will spike 32 psi and then back off after the wastegate opens.

At least 40 psi
Since the boost gauge is mechanical if you spike it past the max range you will deform the bourdon tube of the movement and it will no longer be accurate. Ideally you want a gauge that will work in the middle third of the range for accuracy. I know my truck stock used to peak out about 28 psi and now I see 38 pretty regular with mods for improved towing. The 05 stock will exceed 30 psi with the 325/610 engine. Good luck.
