XZT vs 30-60-100 std box

I was wondering if the XZT and the 60 hp setting on the Quadzilla std box are roughly the same. In other words...is the main difference adjustability... and an extra 40hp when you want it?

The XZT has a lower broader torque curve that is better for towing.

I emailed Quad and asked the same question...his official response was that they are the same program on the 60hp setting and that the Standard box was higher recommended because if your EGT's got too hot you could turn down to the 30hp setting or off all together. I don't have this email at work but if you like I could post it when I get home.

Thanks alot...that is what I was hoping for. I like the opportunity to have extra power to play with...but dont want to give up any benefits for getting a little extra. I will probably go with the standard box.

I thought the XZT was the only Quad module available for the 06's. Is the standard module also available?

Here is the email I sent to Quad:

Gord,

The 60HP setting on the adjustable module is almost an exact copy of the XZT. If you are going to be towing at really high altitudes (9000ft-10000ft) then I would go with the adjustable so that you have access to the 30HP setting, you will not loose anything by going to the adjustable module.

Subject: XZT for 04½ Ram questions

Hello,

I am very impressed with the feedback from various web forums on your
product and will likely be buying one of your modules with X-mas money.
I do have a few quick questions however. I use my truck daily driving as
well as towing both a small and medium sized trailer (flatbed car hauler
and 27' RV). I am mainly interested in the XZT module for towing
purposes as well as mileage gains but am curious as well about the other
modules. My question is if one of the adjustable modules was used on
roughly a 60hp setting would it have similar characteristics to the XZT
or is the XZT tuned more for towing type performance where the
adjustable modules may cause EGT's to get to high. Just looking for the
best module for my needs, not looking for insane horsepower but also
don't want to limit myself to just one setting if and adjustable unit
works just as well.

Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide,

Gord Galloway

the only thing i would like better with the quad boxes is if they would fuel a little harder on the bottem.the xzt is geared towards towing,it comes on around 1900 rpms really, and fuels good to about 2500....for a decent little kick on the bottem,do the tone ring mod with it to take up some slack.......a great little box for the money no doubt........bama

I agree with Bama. 1800rpms and up the xzt pulls like a freight train.

I agree with them all. Go with the quad squad! I have the 30-60-100 hp quad on my 06 and love it to death. Can't wait to drive it again, everytime I get out of it.

I dont mean to hijack but instead of startin another thread I think yall can help me. I am goin to texas for the HL mud nationals. For one reason or another all the towin I have done has been with my box out of the truck. I plan on pullin a 24' gooseneck with about 10 4 wheelers on it at around 10,000 lbs. Will my egts be an issue with the quad on 60? I have gauges so I can cut it down if needed but I am curious. I will be runnin I20 for most of the trip at 78-80 mph if I can. All the other mods are in my sig I am just really hopein to see what it pulls like with the box and I hope it helps my fuel milage. One more question, what egts can I sustain? I figured if it ran 1200 all day that was ok but I am not really sure.
Thanks

Wap,

Your egt's will certainly be fine on the 60hp setting. You may even get away with running the 100hp setting depending on the terrain you are covering. The egt's will be similar in all settings when running on flat ground. The difference will be when you go up a grade or incline. The 130hp setting will get hotter faster.

I would say that 1200 is very, very safe. I know I have run over 1300 for extended periods of time. That is with the thermocouple mounted near Cylinder 3 in the exhaust manifold, pre-turbo. I know my truck will run almost 1350 stock, so I would think anything below that would be gravy.

I would not let it go over about 1450 for very long, a short burst won't hurt it though.
