Wow, valvesprings are not cheap

They are kind of on my wish list. Today I looked around e-bay, there were 2 auctions, they were both over $800. I think I was expecting like $400 - $500.

Zowie.

love my cam and springs f1 a few other companys have a cam and spring set up out there but they run a few more bucks and from what i gathered their is not to much power to be made in the cam and springs correct me if im wrong but it does help the spool and resp.

Cam and springs are a great upgrade, but pricey. The springs are needed when you start pushing higher boost #'s to keep you valves from floating. And others will say they are just a good upgrade due to the stock springs being rather weak, Don has all the info on his site.
The cam is another pricey upgrade but a must for real constant power. It will spool your turbo sooner, and bring power at a lower rpm where you want it, and also smooth out power across the board. Look at a dyno graph of someone with a cam and you will see power come on sooner and a very nice curve.
Anyone can make big #'s with these new trucks the question is do you want to be able to use it everyday?

The reason I am so interested is because Madselectronics may come out with a 4k RPM tune. I have read on here that I can keep the stock cam & jsut get springs. At this point, a cam job is too scary for me to do myself and the labor would be just too much.

Thanx.

i know of some people that are making over 650 RWHP using the PPE HOT (4k), without springs or a cam.

No doubt, but theirs a huge difference in power that can be used and power spikes with big #'s for the dyno. At the end of the day the flatter the curve and the sooner the power starts the better it is.

that is true, personally i wouldnt do springs unless i did a cam, or was running twins at high RPM. Right now i am looking into 6.7 springs.

with my money, id start with an intake horn of choice, and an ATS exhaust manifold.

Rye, how do you like the 62 over the 80? just upgraded to a 66 over an 80 for the pro street truck, last year it was a 62 over a 74

I like it more each day, and for my goal of 800-850 #2 only on a daily driver this set up is the tickett.Their are a few looking at a 66 over the 480 and I gotta think 1000hp on fuel only is possible. Good luck and let us know how it works out.
