I have to admit that I dont know a whole lot about the block and head on these diesels but wouldnt polishing the deck make it easier for a gasket to squirt out under high boost pressure? I have messed with various gas engines in the past and was always told that you need a rougher texture to the decks to insure a positive grip on the gasket. Does this not matter on these engines?

Berettaman, Geeze, I hope 5 layers of shiny steel in the gasket don't squirt out from between those 26 studs. If this gasket was rubber or cork maybe but on a molecular layer 400 grit leaves lots of grip on the smooth steel gasket. But I guess we'll find out. ks
