Wiring Westach gauge?

Just got my Westach boost and EGT gauge from Genos. any advice on wiring it up I know about the dimmer wire. How about a power wire and it's location under the dash. Any one else have this gauge? Thanks

For any in cab power I used a relay triggered by the cigarette lighter. This is only hot with the key on or key off until doors open or it reaches the end of the limit. The relay is tucked above the driver side kick panel. Then the + and - of the relay go directly to the battery with 12 gauge wire. Now when I get around to gauges I just have to insert a male spade on to the end of double pigtail female from the key on hot side of the relay. I don't worry about a dimmer I just wire the light portion and power for the gauge to the relay. (It does not matter to me if the gauge is lit all the time...I like my dash full bright as well).

Here is pretty good picture of a relay. I think most relays are numbered the same way. Pin 86 (trigger to cigarette lighter), pin 30/51 directly to + battery (fused of course), pin 85 to - battery, pin 87 to gauge or ? For protection I put 2 amp fuse on the relay trigger side. Then fuse on the + batter side of anticipated load.

I know this is all overkill for gauges but whatever I run in my cab I have a power source. I believe the relay I used was rated 30 amps, about $5 at Rat Shack.

I can't remember which location but in the fuse box in the engine bay one of the open slots only has power when the running lights are turned on. I just used one of those fuse taps and ran a wire thru the firewall into the cab for mine. Use a DMM and you can figure out pretty quick which slot is hot when the lights are on.

I have the westach combo guage. I should've got the higher boost one. As I recall, the install was pretty easy. Just followed whatever instructions they had. It's been a couple or three years ago now.
