[QUOTE=gitchesum;1191436]Yuppie hell. that's one of the best safety features you can put on a vehicle. The more lights you have to warn people of your intentions, the better off you are. Hence the daytime running lights, if they can see you, they'll know you're there.

Hey their YUPPIE . When you where a twinkle in you old mans eye. If a vehicle had their headlights on in broad daylight they where in a funneral procession . Oh don't get your dockers in a knot I'm just being a grummpy old man

"If they can make the electric mirror know what direction the mirror is in and adjust properly..."

Yup, what DuallyDog said...

I've never seen the exact **** mirrors that the dealer installed in any catalog, they were ordered by the dealer from Mopar. The Mopar ones have the etched RAM and the turn lights.

That's about the only thing I like about my company truck. I find it works better than any one of the add on units we used in the past.

What's bad on the brake controller is everyone I've talked to that had them said they don't work as good as the regular ones. Especially when you are messing with electric over hydrolic brakes.

And yes, Dodge could easily add the turn signal lamps to the trucks. If they can make the electric mirror know what direction the mirror is in and adjust properly, they can make a second set of lights blink the proper direction when the mirrors ar extended.

Bottom line? Cost. They get away with putting less stuff on their trucks and still sell them for a price comparable to the other brands. Kind of like integrated brake controllers and aux switches you get with a Ford. Some of these ideas are pretty dang good.
I coudn't agree more! I almost lane changed on top of a little Miata a couple of days ago in heavy traffic at night. He was in a blind spot on passenger side and I sure would like him to have known of my intentions sooner by way of a integrated mirror/turn signal. I think they are a great safety feature and don't understand why DC has not incorporated them either. Heck, these trucks are approaching $50k and beyond which is more that I paid for my first house! OK, that was back in the 70's but still...DC is making a lot of profit on these rigs and a few LED's in the name of safety are not going to break the bank!

Yep, my towing mirror door pad adjusters understand when my mirrors are flipped out for towing. So...it can't be that hard to put some embedded LED's behind the mirror glass or mirror shroud in the shape of a < that understands the mirror orientation in only two possible directions.

While I'm at it I want a "complete" OEM tow package! DC please bundle the new Exhaust brake variable turbo with an integrated brake controller (ala Brakesmart) and LCD turn-signal tow mirrors in a "deluxe tow package". Now that would be real industry leading tow package!

My sidemirror got hit by a courier van and it got pushed too far forward then sprung back and almost went through my side window...mirror or truck didn't get a scratch....On the the Ford F350 I hit a branch and I mean a twig doing 15mph and it broke the light off including the plastic lens mount....New mirror required....$325 at the dealer. . The GM's are nice but they can be a distraction to the driver at night on dark roads....with the ford the direction you are turning in flashing yellow right where you are looking out the side window. On the GM the mirror has a flashing arrow in it to disturb you when you are looking back for traffic.... I wouldn't complain if Dodge had a small discrete 3 led unit installed...I've thought of doing one myself on the side of the mirror mount....all said and done .....not needed. If I wanted better turn signal indication I could connnect my side markers on the dually to the turn signal wire....ks

That was totally uncalled for and very poor humour. I have never hit my loving wife but would love to give you a knuckle sandwich...a little thin skinned hey boy!

Anytime you feel like you're man enough, bring it. I'll shoot you the address. Might I suggest that you pack a lunch though, you'll be here a while

As far as my little joke is concerned, that's all it was, a joke. If you'd put on the bifocals you'd read that I didn't say "you" beat your wife.

And I have the thin skin?

The Dodge /**** mirrors have the lights out on the end, not embedded in the glass. They don't interfere at night, you can just see the end of the lens enough to know they're working. My dealer installed them for $350 after some arm twisting, but then I've bought 3 vehicles from him in the past two years..
