I had my waterpump fins trimmed to limit the pressure spikes with high rpm, have any of you tried this, some guys on the east coast are doing this with no complaints. Jay

No offense here - I'm familiar with the operation of the BOE (since I designed it), but not with anyone else's bypass - I'm posting in this thread as an educational excercise concerning coolant system behavior.

Problem fixed...

Thermostat got trashed...and I put a new cap on for good measure since it has been blow open too many times. I pumped almost 1 1/2 gallons out of my overflow...lol. That is some serious flow rate in 15 seconds!

All better...and anxiously awaiting my Opie Bypass. I am going to weld my return bung into my Evil Twin Radiator Pipe and that will giv eme an excuse to have it recoated to match my MPI Twins!!!!!!!!!!!

No offense to anyone...but this system has been tested with as many thermometer/pressure gauges that can fit in the head. Proof is in the pudding.

Paul...tell me more about the chains? Where do they connect...I am out of space...lol.
I have one end of the chain attached to one of the motor mount bolt on the block (using a longer bolt). The other end of the chain is welded to the motor mount stancion just above where it's attached to the cross member. I do not have much play in the chains at all.

Dumb question but do you hook it up too, the rear freeze plug and/or what? How hard was the install?

I did two, but of course you only need one for torque. Once you chain one side down though the other side has a tendency to raise up.

You remove a screw in water jacket plug in the head, by #5 cylinder, and install the supplied fitting. There is also a Tee fitting that goes into the upper rad hose. The regulator itself mounts to a bracket that is bolted to two exhaust manifold bolts/studs. The install was easy.
