Who makes the best truck topper???? ARE or Leer?
I am in the market for a truck topper (bed cap). Can't decide between LEER and ARE. ARE has lifetime warranty but also seems to cost more. Does anyone have an opinion which is better?????
I want good quaility and good looks. Doesn't everyone???!!!
Thanks

I looked at all the ones mentioned in this thread. The Leer 100XQ looks the best.
It also has a limited lifetime warranty according to their site. Thanks for the links guys, you just helped me pick out the cap for my new truck.

There are 3 options I wish I had or could find as aftermarket for my cap/topper:
1) Rear window wiper.
2) Rear window grid defroster
3) A wind deflector to wash air down the back window.

Cheack out my gallery, I have an '03 Dodge with the LEER 100 XQ and love it. This is my second LEER and I'd stand in line for my third!
The hardest thing for me in chosing a shell was the odd roof line of the new Dodge. If you stand back and look at this truck from the side, you'll notice that the roof isn't flat. It arches and that (to me) makes a traditional square style shell look out of place. When the 100 XQ first came out, I wasn't totally sold on the tapered styling. After looking at many shells including the ARE and the SnugTop, I felt the LEER looked like it was the best fit.
The arched roof line is what spoiled it for me. It just looks wierd tohave a rounded off roof with a totally square shell.
Maybe it's just me...to each his own.
Hope I helped.

I cheated! I write for a fishing magazine and I did a two page color article on cab-over campers and camper shells...guess who I used as the "main" manufacturer??? At the time I wrote the article, the 100XQ was still a proto-type and I didn't even know it was in the works.
Leer hooked me up really nice. Here in Ca. they are pretty costly. To be totally honest, I don't even know. I know I now sound biassed but I would definately buy another, deal or not. I might also add, my first Leer was 10 years ago, paid full pop for it and never had a problem.
If I had to pick a "runner-up", it would have been the SnugTop. Great shell and even though it is more square than the LEER, it looked the best of the square bunch (to me).
With my own truck, I had more of a hang-up with the total overall looks way more that whose name was on the lid. In the end, I think I got the right one for both looks and quality.
Just personal preference I guess...

I have Leer 100XQ and to be honest I really do not like it. It might just be mine so I’ll ask the rest of you that do have this topper, It does not seem to fit right, it has a About ½ inch lip around the sides. Like its not pushed out far enough(from the inside out. Also the window on the sides in the back seems to bow out. Water leeks in a little, between the wheel wells and the tailgate. I had left the light on once and it melted the plastic light cover and blew the bulb. I'll take pictures if anyone would like to see what i'm talking about.
