Has anybody stacked the C5 with a Smarty? I bought a C5 about a week ago from Mid Atlantic (seems like good service IMO) and it should be here pretty soon.
I guess this box is pretty new so there is not a lot of experience out there with it yet. The software sounds cool though, hope it doesn't take to long to make it to production (the software)

It connects to the ECM through the plug on the left and takes about 3 minutes.

I initially tried stacking it with the Beta 4.4 and it did not perform to well. Throwing codes and truck ran rough/missed. But, I loaded up an old wild torque mang. software I had saved and it works VERY well with it. Thought I would run this awhile till the tuning software comes out. The setup that works best on mine is Smarty#6 / VA #4. Even then my twins will not keep things cool. 1500 comes on pretty quick. 20 lb launch is almost scary

Dang, ****** thats tough call. Out of the box comparison I would personally go with the Smarty. The Beta 4.4 is hard to beat. But, on the flip side being able to custom tune the VA C5 down the road will make it a hands down winner. It will be nice to be able to go to KILL mode and back to daily mode with the push of a button vs having to stop and spend 10 minutes swapping programs. I hope that helps. Also, now is the time to get a C5 since they are running a special on the tuning software, save you a couple hundred dollars.

Thanks, looks like I'll be selling my rockcrawler pretty soon to start on a dedicated 12 valve race truck. I curse the day I bought a Superchips for my old 7.3 and got hooked.

Hey Bret,
I paid $899.09 which includes the software at $100.
That's good (initial) news, DrillPipe, scary is good, right?
That link I posted above says about 2 more weeks for the software to be released.
